Re: NO, Not an option!
Yes it is an option. The CWU can get back in there and renegotiate. What were the strikes for?
If this goes through, then we may as well disband Ward and Hayes gravy train and get them out on delivery. We'll soon see what they think of their own mess they've got us into.

A bit alarmist, PCB.pcb wrote:The future of RM when no vote comes in.
CWU sidelined,
They've sidelined themselves already. A yes vote will make the CWU into RM's bitch.
Parliament push through privatisation.
Both New Labour and Conservatives are comitted to privatisation. Before when it was raised CWU successfully played one off against the other. Not possible now.
Pay freeze,
Agreed. Conservatives have already said they'll have a public sector pay freeze if elected.
individual units strike, 3 weeks later after lockouts members go back,
That's if individual units strike which is by no means certain.
no public support, no TUC support.
There wont be a national strike again because CWU are already comitted to working with TUC and ACAS
RM push through changes with scant regard to members working conditions.
So situation normal then
VRs given out with minimum payouts,
No change from what's being offered now then
a take or leave it offer on displacement, D2D put into workload without payment, compulsory redundancies with minimum pay outs
Not necessarily. Remember RM are also comitted to working with TUC and ACAS
and the list goes on!
but you've stopped here
Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

Re: NO, Not an option!
We had Grapevine News through today and our Branch ( South East Wales) recommended a NO vote and here are their reasons;
1. ATTENDANCE PATTERNS --- Later Saturday finishing times in Delivery does not indicate a family friendly policy. Where is the promised WORK/HOME TIME balance with longer delivery spans?
2. PAY CUT ==== D2D reward inadequate. An acceptance by the executive that the agreement will produce winners and losers. Substantial loss of income for many members.
3. WORK RATES ---- No detailed agreement on duty structures, measurement, standards, weights or workload.
4. PENSIONS ------ No commitment on Pensions. No solution has been agreed to the increasing pension deficit.
5. NO SHORTED WORKING WEEK FOR EVERYONE ------ RM Drivers and Engineers will not benefit from reduction in hours.
6. JOB LOSES ====== Current lack of detail and clarity on mail centre closures and RM strategy.
Vague criteria agreed for the purposes of closing mail centres. An improved MTSF agreement indicating mail centre closures and amalgamation of delivery offices is anticipated. A lack of vision for the future on Mail Centres and Networks. RM plans 1 & 2 mail centres closing. An unprecedented impact on members. Mail Centres are signing up to a blank sheet. RM has not shared its plans with CWU.
7. WORLD CLASS MAIL KILLS JOBS ----- No terms of reference of World Class Mail required to protect our members jobs, terms and conditions. WCM is an attempt by RM to get around procedures they don't like and undermine existing ones.
8. CWU INVOLVEMENT --- Lack of trust in management who continue to bring in unagreed revisions. A change to internal structures to register disagreements.

Where is the promised WORK/HOME TIME balance with longer delivery spans?
Sorry dont get that one, since when did the per centage of duty time that is outdoor work influence WORK/HOME TIME balance?
Start and finish time decide that dont they
What is WORK/HOME TIME balance?
That will vary accordng to the desires and needs and family set up of the individuual.
Lets say I move to 8-2 from 0645 to 1245 I will see more of my children before work and still have the same amount of time after work. Later start and finish is family friendly for me

Re: NO, Not an option!
I'd like to see how you'd feel if you where actually out on deliveries then (but when your MC is sold off you could always transfer to a DO).pcb wrote:Shadow: you should pick and choose when to fight and when to tactically retreat. Otherwise you lose all the time!
This agreement has resolved none of the issues that I went on strike for ie. fair and balanced workload (not 6 effing hours out on delivery in the rain because we don't have any staff able to cover anymore) and the bullying (if you don't take it all out and deliver it then I'm going to do you for wilful delay), instead it skirted around those issues and instead concentrated on money (and reducing it for that matter).
