the deal will be judged by the members in the postal ballot. From what I am hearing the majority of branchs thus far are supporting it. However London and a fair few others have yet to make a decision. The members deserve an explaination of the agreement as does the reps that's why a DVD will be sent to all members. Look the members will decide but equally if it was such a poor agreement you wouldt need to post up slagging it off !

I have been around for years and the outcry thus far is not close to what it was under the way forward or iwm in the 80s .

I maybe wrong but not everyone reads royal mail chat but they do recieve information from their branch and from headquaters.

I understand that some people will be losing and I understand their lack of support but in no way are they the majority in deliveries. In any case unless we protect hours in delivery units by putting door to door into workload then our members will lose even more money as there won't be the work to sustain jobs .

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

A scary thought. The only source of info some people are getting are from the CWU/Royal Mail. With this thread conveniently titled with the word 'propaganda' that is all the CWU/Royal Mail are supplying.

Dingo, you keep repeating this mantra when it suits your argument but when members complain about losing D2D money you then say that if D2D payments remained as they are then people will lose even more because D2Ds will be arriving pre-packed in 1 envelope. Can you please explain this contradiction?

I recently attended a branch meeting in which a member of the PEC was present. There is nothing that he said that has convinced me to vote yes. As a postie whose office has had a full georoute revision, vanshare implemented,4 hour delivery spans and use of cars removed from delivery I think I can comment on this great deal that the CWU are pushing. Management cannot be trusted to play fair as our office has seen first hand, this new relationship the CWU talks about is a joke. We are being sold a lemon and if we accept it there will be a bitter taste left in our mouths. The union should defend peoples earnings not have losers or increase our workload and tell us they are doing us a favour.Longer saturdays, no maximum delivery span and everyone to increase productivity to the top 10%. Shame on you CWU you no longer represent me!

I could do with you Dingo but you always look at it from your point of view - you speak from an area that has 99% full timers as opposed to areas with an already 60/40 split, who stand to lose considerably more, from an area that does practically NO D2D to areas that do 3 lots a week on a consistent basis - don't talk about the 80s that was twenty years ago - this deal is taking us backwards not forwards. There is no guarantee of jobs or a future or any sign that the pension is going to be dealt with or DSA is going to be brought into profitability.

The delivery span is non specific, the workload revision tools are not agreed and the workshops will only be arranged after the vote. This is a pig in a poke and we should not accept it. This is an appeasement to Royal Mail of the highest order and a most disgraceful discrimination against part time employees I have ever had the misfortune to read and the union should be ashamed of themselves.

If the deal was any good it wouldn't need the circus and that, if you'll pardon the pun,is the truth.

dingo wrote: no it's 60 per cent of the work to the 100 per cent of walks. The first 60 per cent is your first class intra , neighbour second class which clears a mail centre at about midnight which can then be walk sequenced during the night and be ready for your Arrival in the morning. You will still have to ips your packets flats and any machine rejects. The second 40 per cent of work is your distant mail which does not clear the mail centre until 4.40 in the morning that currently comes into your office for ips in the future this work will be sequenced for all of your walks hence why royal mail wants later finishing times as the work will arrive in delivery office later.
Thanks for clearing that up, as a Delivery OPG i have no idea how that side of the operation works.
If there is clear operational reasons why delivery spans can't increase to much then it should have been straight foward to include a national limit in the agreement though. and i still expect that under this agreement delivery spans will inrease substantially, with or without agreement locally.

ps. i appreaciate that you didn't negotiate it.

How are we being treated equally when some are earning £1500/yr more than others quite simply because of the geographical position of their DO?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

you could open a can of worms with that argument, are you proposing the same pay uniformly for all opg's irrespective of geographic location?
