Well at least you have admitted you dont want to answer it.

I will draw my own conclusions as to why.

Royal Mail have still not done that and thats the reason the ballot timetable has been put back.
But Royal Mail's patience is not infinite, surely ? I can't believe Royal Mail will wait more than a couple of weeks of Bill & Dave's roadshow before insisting the ballot is conducted, to - in their corporate language - 'let our people have their say'

Of course Royal Mail wants the ballot as quickly as possible but its not their call its the unions and they have made it clear to Royal Mail that there is little chance of London and others buying into an agreement built on trust and a new relationship when management are still not adhering to the interim agreement.

Explain to me dingo how you can trust management when it is obvious to all concerned that they are only resolving the issues with the interim ageement because London is threatening to pull support of the agreement?
We are not idiots and neither are they.
They will play along with you until they get what they want and then resume their attacks.
And you will have nothing to defend the membership with other than this flimsy string vest of an agreement.
Transforming relationships my arse. :cuppa

Not for the first time I totally disagree with you. At the moment Royal Mail have what we want back like 4 day weeks etc and they are obviously in a strong postion as every 4 day week they put back is damaging to their positon.. If and when we get those back and we have got some back then we are then back in a strong postion.

The new agreement means they will need us to corperate with them and guess what we then hold all the aces as they will want us to change and become more productive, later saturdays , geo route etc. That is the difference and to get us to move forward they will have to make sure we get what we want out of the new agreement.

The 4 day weeks although important to the offices who had them removed, were a minor issue for everyone else dingo as most offices didn't want them because of the later saturdays and longer delivery spans.

The dispute as i remmeber it was primarily about the unagreed use of pegasus, and the workrates used in them. and we still don't know what those standards are going to be or if they will be permanent. You wont be surprised to here i'm with Fishtank on this.

Read your posts dingo, you are trying to re-introduce 4 day weeks that should have been back in place 4 months ago!
Why do you think they have dragged their feet over this?
They needed London's support for this agreement so decided to keep a little leverage back.
You are not dealing with people who play by the rules.
Only defeat lies in store for those who think they have all the aces.
You may not be playing with a straight deck. :hmmmm

dingo wrote:It would seem some posters want to know about London`s postion and in fact a couple of posters have been very critical of the reps and indeed London per say.

For the record the London members took 20 days of strike action last year in order for the union to get in the room, unlike a number of posters on here who talk a good fight but when the union called on offices not to agree savings and to ballot for strike action did nothing.

In London we held the line because we dont just talk the talk we actually walk the walk. We were not going to agree geo route revisons , we were not going to agree the unagreed indoor workload tool , we were not going to agree more part time duties at the expense of full time jobs. We were not going to agree the removal of 4 day weeks and 9 day fortnights.

As a result of the London membership holding the national policy we have 98 revisions imposed. Had it not been for London , some offices in Scotland , Plymouth , Bristol , Network and some other brave units. Fact was there was never a desire by some both at Heaquaters and in the field to have a national ballot. It was us who forced that and it was us who got negotations back way before the national ballot.

Since 5th November and the London joint statement we have spent literally hundreds of hours locked in rooms with acas attempting to resolve the executive action.

Last Friday the London Divisional Committee consisting of all Branch`s in London endorsed a policy which will be relayed to our members later this week if we have not made progress.

In terms of supporting Dave Ward blindly , well you simply dont know what your talking about.

Instead of asking what London is doing why dont you put up what your Branch is doing. Its easy saying what you are doing as an indivdual but its much harder trying to get a collective postion.

In London we always attempt to stick together if we can and sometimes there are heated discussions and different points of view. However one thing no one in the union can deny is that London postal workers stand up for this union and terms and conditions.

So it is a cheap shot and out of order to criticise London postal workers for having good terms and conditions as they have fought for them.
Well Dingo our Branch is a no vote - does that mean we are doing the Lambeth walk per se?

As for the Interim Agreement - surely that is now over as the new agreement is on the table - also if it has taken months and still no resolution over your problems then what price their being able to resolve NATIONAL problems btw those are the ones outside London.
Sure there hasn't been a U-turn?
:Very Happy You wish! Dig your walking boots out Lovejoy, you may well need them soon.
Had them on today actually......... I was being serious I've heard your committee had changed their recommendation....
Unlike some areas Lovejoy the Branch expresses the wishes of its members - they are not autonomous, they are elected by us to do our bidding, not the other way round - perhaps HQ would do well to heed the wishes of its members and not the wishes of the Leadership. The vote was cast in Manchester AFTER the snake oil salesmen had done their worst.
