Big Daz wrote:I fully agree, it is a winners and loosers.

I would have loved to have seen some form of supplement like we had with the way forward agreement to help the loosers.
Mailcentre workers are getting a supplement to help the losers.

In Units where the PBS/ICS payment is greater than £8.00, the amount over £8.00 will still be paid

That is the issue with this agreement when it mentions "winner and losers" the losers are always deliveries.

There is plenty to lose for MC staff as well, possibly the ultimate loss, your job.
Or alternatively a 30mile trek to work in what RM considers a suitable alternative location. :hmmmm
Mail centre closures are happening regardless of this agreement. They have been planned for a considerable amount of time.
And we cant fight them? We are the Union and the publc have no idea whats waiting for them as most Postmen dont! So from here we have Two choices! Our needs and wishes for a decent public service jobs terms and conditions or CWU HQs and RMs political aspirations to line the pockets of fat cats! Its a no brainer to me FIGHT!
CONDEMNATION.

belle smith wrote: You had a job and finish before RM introduced it in 2004?? no you didn't, because you have said your self you came back for you 2nd delivery, why you weren't sacked for "going home" inbetween i don't know, but you should consider yor self lucky....after a confession like that i don't know how you have the gall to call anyone else workshy bastards! :evil/mad
Ummm, yes I and my office did have a kind of job n finish before then, because when all the work was done you could go home. Why wasn't I sacked for going home in-between? Perhaps because I lived on the walk, had time to kill before second delivery and no-one gave a ****!
belle smith wrote:I've worked plenty other places and RM is easily the most physically demanding job i've ever done, certainly more than rertail management. With an agreement that says no longer any maximum delivery spans, allied to our new retierment age of 65. it will get a whole lot worse
I agree but surely in the other jobs you worked in you had to work the hours you were paid to? Yes it is physically demanding and weather can make it even worse but we are not the only people in the world who work outdoors, doing physically demanding work. Longer delivery spans are necessary because the work is not there to fill the hours we are paid for.
Have you looked at the job adverts recently? Our pay is still much higher than many jobs out there.
belle smith wrote:it's suddenly about pay now. :hmmmm Since the unions now highlighting the pay aspect when previously "it was not about pay"....i'll take that as a tacit admission that they know they have failed.
I have to agree with you there the union as we knew it is finished.

And what's stopping us from trying to change that from the inside, rather than people leaving the Union (as many have said they will)? :hmmmm
It'll take time and effort. But there's nothing stopping the Rank and File from bringing about change in the Union, if there are enough people willing to make the effort. :hmmmm

The problems are inherent in the organisation of the union and the way in which it is partly financed by Royal Mail, until it can bite the bullet and leave the comfort zone of captive funds and actually recruit members with an option of payment, then the CWU cannot stand on its own recognisance. I believe that in past managements, prior to Leighton et al, that a gentlemans agreement existed and funding etc was never an issue but there seems to have been a change in climate and I think the Union has come to rely too much on RM financially and that RM have taken full advantage of that position in the last five years.

So change from within um :hmmmm - there would need to be a will, at the highest level, for that to happen and I am afraid that is never going to happen, there is a word for something that devours itself, it escapes me for the moment but, I believe that is happening to the CWU.

This is a misnommer we are already contracted to work all the hours that we are paid, i have no problem working the hours i am paid!
BTW i've never had another job were i have to ask the manager if i can finish on time....which results in a long argument about performance standards, lies that no one else has a problem with that duty, or managers point blank refuseing to take responsability for their job.

still finishing early piranha, had a pegasus revision yet???
