Talking of cock ups, whoever prepped my round put a letter in the wrong road which I didn't notice on delivery. I posted it apparently. So today a woman ran out with this missort letter which she had torn open.
Now, what do I do with it? I was running late today so I just put it back in my frame and went home. Do I just deliver it tomorrow with a knock on the door and apologise if they are in, or do I do something else?

Firstly you need to get the letter resealed or put into one of those "sorry we screwed up your letter" bags
Then i would deliver it as normal. If the customer asked why it was damaged i would blame the automated sorting machines
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

I done it within weeks of starting on temp contract, and I'm still here - although I was seriously flapping when I realised what I'd done! Ever since, I just do what Johnny P suggested on page 1 ( keep 'em seperate, put them in front of letters, with a 739 card and write a reminder on the signing card on far right corner of sig box ie, 1HS for No 1, High Street - so it's easy for me to check if one's due to appear in the bundle )fudgeman8 wrote:Hi, I'm sure i had a recorded signed for letter today but whilst out on delivery i didn't come across it.
I've either delivered it unsigned or lost it, what should i do?
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

Re: recorded signed for cock up
The thing with RD's is some items are sent RD because the sender wants to make sure it gets through (like an important notification letter) and some are sent so the sender can PROVE it was recieved (like a high value item). In other words some will be very keen you get a signature (incase the recipient fraudulently clams the didn't get the item) and others will simply be happy if it is safely delivered and aren't interested atall in a signature. Obviously you never know what you are delivring so always get a signature or leave a card but the likelyhood of you hearing anything about this is probablly nil. I bet there are hundreads of accidents like this everyday. If you don't give staff enough time to check their mail properly this will happen.
