drb wrote:I know how you feel Belle......you don't trust them. However our pension is soon to be announced at a defecit of 10 billion. That is 250 million put in as normal. Then another 250 million to keep us afloat. That is fine now.But with inflation what is is,and the goverment allowing stupid DSA prices. Here is an example :

DSA for TNT = 13p per letter

Costs us = 20p per letter

On that basis,we need to put the ball in their court. We are working all hours. We have accepted a potential growth market,(D2D). If it does'nt work...then who's fault is it?
£10 billion is that on the SSAP24 or FRS17 accountancy standard?
We don't need to beg on the pension trust me.

The agreement says the majority will not start later than 0700, it does not say the majority of us will be starting at 0700.

Similar, but not identical.

As a rep I have not conceeded start times to 0700, untill I have details of run times out of the M.C (it apppears my D.O will have its mail sequenced at the M.C) and have details of how much mail will be on the "wagons" then start times could be anything from 0600 to 0659.

Due to walksorted mail arriving early enough in the morning there is plenty of early starting at my D.O, as soon as start times can match the reality of mail arrivals, early starting will go at my D.O . The mbrs certainly wont come in early and sort flats and packets at the IPS stage.

It makes sense to me to eliminate the cause of early starting at my D.O
Can I ask why mate?
I reckon if the members thought we'd still start at, say, 6 on a Saturday IPS the flats and packets, prep them if need be then when the sequenced mail comes in it's straight into your frames. Leading to a 2 oclock finish -not good but better than 3.

If starting times at my D.O were based on mail arrival then 6am would become 5.30am , perhaps a wee bit earlier.

If after sequenced mail their is enough mail on hand to sustain a 6.30 start then thats the time I want, not 0700.Otherwise coming in early will happen all over again.

At this moment in time making the offical start time 0530 at my D.O would eliminate most of the early starting. Walksorted mail is on hand early enough to allow mbrs to have three boxes thrown off into frame by 0610 when IPS starts.

So when I say eliminate the cause of early starting my solution is start times should not be later than what is actually viable.

We need to use the agreement to start communicating strongly with members. Your DOM would love not to stick with a business plan.He hates savings. He hates negotiating. He hates resource meetings. He hates letters from the rep.

Start a commitee in your office.Put posters up.Get an email mailing list. Tell them...YOUR KILLING THE JOB!!

I'm 35. it was supposed to be announced in april 2009.

why not, becuase;
a)if they announce the deficit they have to agree a recovery plan with the trustees and the pension regulator.(in 2006 the last time they done this they acted outside The pension regulators own guidelines, as did postcomm as did RM and all with the knowlege of the goverment and with parliamentry oversight. naughty naughty)
b)The goverment in there own intrests will pick up the deficit. (there proposals are to opt out of the existing legislation. again naughty naughty)
c)They plan to use it as leavrage in the meantime!
d) The trustees appear to have forgoten what thier job is.

They don't plan too....they want the privitisation Daz.
If push comes to shove they would if re-elected, the goverment needs the pensions part of the bill more than any other part of it. with it £20billion windfall, without it £10billion bill. makes no diffrence in the long term, big diffrence in the short term though.
