Re: Why work Saturdays
Given how much of an issue Saturdays were always going to be, it is crucial we all know the wording before we vote. Without it, the safest course is to vote NO. I will not vote Yes if I don't know what I'm agreeing to !!!!

Re: Why work Saturdays
Why do people choose to become postal workers?
I'm pretty sure it's not because they are careerists. Most people want to do a 'clean' job where they're not required to sell things to others or to f**k other people over. The most important things in our lives are not work related, for most of us our family comes first.
Later Saturdays are a direct attack on family life. Management know this and I don't believe this bollocks about not buying these machines to leave them idle on Saturdays. The reason management want to bring this in is because they realise this is the best way to persuade staff to leave the job voluntarily.

Re: Why work Saturdays
I've posted before that you probabily have 1 in 4 sats already
4 (or more) weeks leave per year - this leaves 48 weeks
48 weeks devided by (1 sat in) 6 = 8
4+8=12
1 in 4 sats per year=13
the "agreement" doesn't say every 4th sat
it dosn't say 1 sat each month
it promises nothing more than we already have

Re: Why work Saturdays
There just isn't any reason on this God's Earth, why a postman/woman should be out pounding the pavements after 1.00pm on a Saturday.
God Knows, 1.00pm on a Saturday is late enough, but 3.00pm?
And all on the whim of the MON-FRI suits in RM/CWU management, they can go f**k themselves.

Re: Why work Saturdays
We had an idea put forward regarding saturday working. All full time pmn will work Mon-Fri with some preparing duties for the part timers instead of doing IPS. The part timers are there mon-fri covering duties such as when the full timer is on leave, in our office this amounts to around 14 staff per week. On saturday's, with these new machines installed , Saturdays can be completed with more part timers and a mix of full timers on docket or on a scheduled rota.
Another thing....where has Royal Mail got this £70,000,000 to pay these "incentives" if we all agree to these changes?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Why wasn't it up to us what the money was spent on?POSTMAN wrote:They have s**t loads of cash left form a £2Billion government loan.
Forget the vans.
Forget the machines.
Just share out the £2billion amongst us.
Now that would give you a motivated workforce.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

'cause if it isn't, you're asking me to trust RM and the CWU that I'll get some Saturdays off.
I've never trusted them and frankly, after 4 months wait and ending up with a vague deal like this, I don't know I can trust them either![]()
VOTE NO !
