Re: What happens
A 'No' vote does not mean a strike.
It just means that nothing in this agreement is agreed.
If RM break existing agreements our courts will punish them. If they could bring in changes without agreement, they would.

What happens if God forbid this agreement does go through?
Will the CWU be finished?
Will Royal Mail be able to basically bypass the CWU in future agreements as they have done with this agreement?
Is my job really secure or do I risk getting the conduct code or even sacked because I can't complete my delivery even though the computer says I can?

we now have 2 options, vote YES get the money, retain some influence on changes, WORK TO YOUR TIME, make sure the workload does not push you over your time, the fact that D2D are now live mail, means you can claim dockets if you go over.
don't use your cars, have a procedure in place for potential conflict between drivers sharing vans, there will some issues.
Vote NO, go out on strike, lose the money, no guarantee they will give us a better offer, maybe they will improve on it, you will be forced to work in the new system, sparking potential wildcat unofficial strike action, it could go on for a while, with no guarantee of success with the election just round the corner.
I feel depressed thinking about it, especially my talk with my Rep, seems there is a lot more to it than just the money, its the business future and thereby our jobs, the changes planned will be huge and unprecedented, the old timers will not cope with it, they will leave on VR, some are planning to do that, leaving the younger ones to deal with it, a job is better than the dole,if I am honest for what we do we do actually get better money than the private sector, talk about a rock and hard place.
I am in turmoil, previously I would have said a straight NO, once I know the details, now I am like a see saw, I am not sure which way to go, its going to be the same up and down the Country, going to read more and digest when the voting papers comes in, in the end its the Democratic process that will decide this, if we hadn't voted for the way forward, we would not be in the position we are in now, for the record I voted against P&M 2007.
Exactly what Royal Mail want. I was thinking along the exact same lines that a 'no' vote will not achieve anything however I am not going to take this agreement without a fight. And hopefully the CWU will show a bit more of a fight when they get a majority 'no' vote. It's the f**king least they can do for us!

Re: What happens
that is absolutely true BUT if we vote no then we must be prepared to go back on strike if that's what's required of us, and how much support do you think we really have for that ?MinisterofCucumber wrote:A 'No' vote does not mean a strike.

If RM realise that we won't walk out again then our unions position to renegotiate a better deal is even weaker than it was to get this deal, so why on earth would RM improve their position ?

What's wrong with returning to the negotiating table, to try to get a deal which better represents what the rank and file want?
And if does not work, what should happen next?
Whats plan C ?

'Executive action' can be fought if there is a will from the CWU to back its members who go to Employment Tribunal.

I’m not sure what part/parts of the new agreement would alter the terms & conditions of employment covered by the Standard Contract for Postpersons (OPG grade)? If RM break existing agreements our courts will punish them.

Re: What happens If its a No Result
Dave Ward has mentioned in one of the meetings that there will NOT be a strike if it's a no vote.

Re: What happens If its a No Result
Its a matter of what we the rank and file want to happen if further talks following a no vote dont produce any improvements.
Plan C is deciding what to do if further talks (plan B) following a no vote dont produce any improvements.
IA ballot or take whats on offer and make the best out of the situation?
Which option would you choose to be plan C?
