That was then and now is now! We in deliveries are not perfect we have our own strike breakers and if our own Union want a divided workforce then they have got it! We as workers should educate ourselves about whats going on in OUR jobs and stick together because if you want a split vote then treat the real victims MCs ect (as i have done!) as bad people and you will get what you seem to want a split! If not find out the issues of MCs ect and and work from there, draw a line under the past and move forward! If we dont we ALL pay. MCs and the rest compared to delveries although smaller in number could hold the key to a NO vote. Do we sit and moan or start working as a TRUE UNION that cares about others? They in MCs and RDCs hold the key so if we can get over our differences then we may get what we all want a decent job pay terms pension and conditions. I will no longer play the RM CWU devide! We will win this together or lose devided.POSTMAN wrote:There is already a divide, you know, the ones that put on extra shifts when London was out!

I work in deliveries. Does the long term security of my job really depend on this agreement going through?

Mail centre workers are holding out for guarantees of no compulsory redundancies due to automation
they seem to have gained some reassurances.
was it at the expense of our door to door limit..
im not being deliberately divisive but theres nothing in this agreement for deliveries.
I'm a postman-and i know where you live.....

RM want to close 30 odd Mail Centres, the mail centre staff should be supporting the delivery staff with a 'No' vote because the mail centre staff are going to end up on deliveries eventually, if they decide to carry on working for RM and refuse to take VR or EVR.

Re: People in mail centres getting a vote on Posties conditions
The closures of some MCs that RM want will have a direct impact on all DOs as DOs will get their work in later (as chances are for most the distance between the MC and DO will be increased), where a DO might have say got any work that is not sequenced split say three ways for them it will all arrive together. To account for the later arrival times of the work they'll move DOs eventually 9-5 working. For MCs that remain as the start time for DOs gets latter and later, they will changed MC start times (esp for night shifts) to start later (our MC night shift is 22:00-06:00 (is that the same for other MCs atm)).
If they move some MC staff from closed MCs to deliveries then that cuts down on the overtime available at DOs and if enough moved then they could cut peoples hours. DO merges are bound to happen at some point especially small ones into their nearest bigger office.

I do think Mail Centre staff need to think carefully. If they become delivery staff due to closing down mail centre, it will affects them. Also a yes vote will speed up moves to close down mail centres. (assuming that is correct)
