I am entitled to my opinion and I'm sure your views are not shared by everyone, as you've stated.

I will make my point again. I don't think it is right and proper for someone who represents the Union to utilise their birthplace to generate votes. The Union should not condone any referral to race, colour, birthplace or national flag as it only creates the impression that the Union are too unprofessional to practice what they preach.

Thank you. Racism has a role in my life as my children have a Fijian father, they have all been picked on in school and have even had people telling them to "go home" when they were born here.

I hope the CWU read what has been sent by this woman and also the letter of complaint and then have enough respect for paying members to do something about it and forbid it from ever happening again. If that means making an example of this woman then so be it.

The Union should have zero tolerance to this kind of behaviour and should have a policy where no election candidate ever includes their race/skin colour/birthplace/nationality on an advertsing campaign poster.

As far as I am concerned the fact the woman wants to generate votes by using her birthplace and not by her successes or experience means that she shouldn't be in the running in the first place.

I may be wrong but here is my opinion, This woman is stating as far as i can see that she is from a certain part of the UK and her rival is from another part, she states as she is from Wales and that it is better to vote for her as she was born and raised in an area that reflects those that she will serve, same as if i were to run for a position in the Portsmouth area of the union and my rival were from Manchester i would rightly in my opinion point out that i'm born and bred in the city and more likely to have more knowledge of local issues and a love of the area making me a better candidete.

Now if this lady were pointing out that she is white and was born in this country and her rival were black and therefore inferior i would agree with your disgust as that is racism, maybe i have got the wrong end of the stick, if i have i'm sorry.

EDIT.. reading back i notice Patches that you have edited out your rasict Welsh comment that the woman in question would be better off being a "shepherd", the old Welsh and sheep jokes eh?

No it means you interpreted the rules incorrectly: They say

Please use ordinary English, no 'text talk' or posts entirely in LARGE CAPS which in internet etiquette is known as shouting.

It does not say use only English. Surely banning Welsh on here would be unfair on those Postal Worker and customers who use Welsh on a daily basis.

With regards to your comments about the English building Bristol from the profits of slavery - I am already aware. But there is no point in living in the past. Although I believe there are occasions when political correctness goes mad I believe there should be zero tolerance to people who use race as a weapon.
