Re: The New Delivery Supplement Explained
No reason not to be proud of it. We already knew you were a area rep because well....you told us. My point was that this doesn't affect you in exactly the same way as it does us, it may not effect your decision, but then again it may.
btw i don't dispute your version of how difficult your day is, maybe want to turn your phone off outside work hours our area rep does.[/quote]
Belle I respect your debate, and to be totally honest I hadn't actually thought about how it affected me financially until you said,

Other people did try to draw me into my individual circumstances but I didn't think it relevant. My original posting was entitled 'The New Delivery Supplement Explained' I thought it might attract some debate but when it starts getting personal it's gone too far. As for turning my phone off, it's also my personal phone, ok you might say get another phone but ....... it's all down to choices .......... just like the new agreement.So do you have full time duty release? if so you wouldn't be currently delivering any D2D items would you. So the new delivery supplement would be a payrise for you, but a pay cut for most of your members.

So put the £18.00 and the £5.57 together, you have F/T workers receiving and extra £18.00 and P/T workers receiving an extra £23.57. I think there’d be a few disgruntled full time workers with this scenario.

Once again BOTH full timers AND part timers get the increase in hourly rate. Full timers will end up with the same amount with an hour less to work. If you are paid £347.61 for a 39hr week instead of £347.61 for a 40hr week you are gaining. So add an hour to the £18.00 in your next thread or you lose all credibility.
Just do not learn do you Razz?

Re: The New Delivery Supplement Explained
I think the deal is a joke and I'll be voting no. I'm not defending it. However:
People come on here asking how they will be able to do it when they can't do it now. Those are the people who will benefit. According to the agreement workloads will be looked at carefully, changes made where necessary. I rarely finish on time now, so I'm looking forward to some changes that will either put more hours on my contract, or allow me to finish on time.
Do I believe that the 'promises' made in the agreement will be kept? NO.
Do I trust the Royal Mail bosses? NO.
That's why I'll be voting NO.
It's pretty clear from the agreement. Any necessary changes will be made to ensure you can do your job. They'll give you a van, high capacity trolley or whatever, new frames, more boxes etc. Tools will be used to share the workload and hours to ensure you can do your job. It won't be easy and you'll be expected to work all the hours you are paid for. Health and safety is given a high priority in the agreement, so bag weights etc will be looked at.shizsco wrote:how exactly do the cwu propose we prep and deliver up to 8 d2d.
currently our prep frames take 2 houses to a slot so if i stick 2 lots of 8 d2d in there would be no space to fit any REAL MAIL.
also on delivery last week i had 3 d2d which were standard size envelopes which nearly filled each of my pouch bags and REAL MAIL had to be crammed in which made bags overweight surely this is a Health and Safety issue.

Ah I see the green eyed monster rears it's ugly head. This has turned into a debate about F/T and P/T ........ a spat between who gets more. I chose a job with full time hours because that's what I needed to pay my bills.Once again BOTH full timers AND part timers get the increase in hourly rate. FULL TIMERS WOULD NOT BE GAINING IF THEY LOST AN HOURS PAY WHEN THEY WENT FROM 40hrs to 39hrs!
40hrs = 347.61
39hrs = 347.61
------------------
WAGE = NO CHANGE
HOURS = ONE HOUR LESS WORKED

Re: The New Delivery Supplement Explained
OK!...Enough! I think some people are trying to make head or tail from this agreement.It is worth the debate. Just don't get personal.It is obvious that some people on this forum are high ranking officials/area reps/Divisional.They may of seen what we do not. These negotiations were slightly different then before.In that it was all about what the business actually has in it's accounts.Everything has been agreed from that.
It appears that this "service" is knackered financially.Insolvent.Bankrupt. Whatever. How do we protect those in it,those who have started,and those that are part time.We also have to protect the service.
Not to mention those that want a decent pension at the end of their careers.Remember if we don't sort the pension then the 65's will suffer in the future.We NEED to bring that age back to the 60 year olds and below.
On that basis we need to start at the very beginning of the agreement...TRUST. This is where it is falling short big time. Already the Interim Agreement is being disregarded by Direstors/DSM's.This is despite being told "not to have their own policies". If these people have the guts to ignore their masters what chance for this agreement to work?
If the agreement is "s**t"...fine.For what reason though? D2D? Well as long as the workload is manageable and my manager trusts me when I cannot complete,he in turn consults the rep and work with the agreement...fine.I personaly have only performed my D2D's 4 times in 20 years. Some offices I have worked do not have any. Not selling this deal by any means.Just stating fact.
Longer Saturdays? Minimum would be every other Saturday for me...let's wait for the options,about to be released.
Parameters for Gep-route/Pegasus? I do know that they are not the parameters they are using now.Also about to be released.
Delivery Spans? Could have a few 1 hour ones,(the rep sorting the geo route by the way),with 5-6 hours indoor work.One option there.
If the deal is crap because we want to finish early,no meal relief,and carry on using our cars...forget it.
The first thing we also have to do is protect and give our part timers the option to go full time should they wish. Perhaps your office PT ratio could have evening packet re-deliverys?
Debate......

But you don't actually work razz - answering the phone and talking is not exactly work - who would want to jeopardise a job like that?Razzamadazz wrote:Still too difficult for you to comprehend huh PatPat Ostman wrote:Razzamadazz wrote:

I will lose the vote? It's not my vote, it's called democracy .You might see it as a lie because you choose not to see the truth. Your's is a blinkered view, you've convinced yourself you're right and everyone elses views are wrong. Take off your blinkers and see what's happening around you, people losing their jobs left right and centre, people taking pay cuts just to keep a job. We've got a deal that secures jobs, allows people who want to leave the job with a payment, a pay increase and a supplement paid 52 weeks of the year whether you're at work or not. Me, I'll be voting yes because what is on the table is better than nothing at all.And that's why you will lose the vote Raz. You see it's pure lies from yourself that do your cause so much harm.

Razzamadaaz, I didn't mean to get personnal, my appoligies for any offence.
Also kudos for appearing on the national media to stand up for us!
If thats the case then i belivie you when you say your not basing your jugement on how it effects you personnally.
The fact of the matter is that a lot of people will lose money on this and no amount of explainig will change that. Not even the argument about inevatibility.
Having said that it's not my primary concern with this agreement. but if like me you want people to vote no it's the reason that they are most likely to. I may have got personnnal because yours is the best pitch i've seen so far, again sorry.
Daz so you should be compensated for your travelling costs.
dvbuk55 I don't like the agreement either, but there are things in it to protect jobs, thats the only logic behind D2D and 39hr week.

Democracy?
andI'm basing my opinions on Facts, Figures, Reality and Understanding.
andYour's is a blinkered view, you've convinced yourself you're right and everyone elses views are wrong.
andTake off your blinkers
andNone so blind as them that cannot see
andyou choose not to see the truth.
I'll actually leave YOU with YOUR best quote, I think it's quite apt to you actually Raztrying to help you see more clearly.
Frightened of people seeing an alternative view?
You see I have no problems with that statement, I just get a little annoyed when you have to fudge figures to try and make out how much better the deal is, than it is, in reality.We've got a deal that secures jobs, allows people who want to leave the job with a payment, a pay increase and a supplement paid 52 weeks of the year whether you're at work or not.
