So if my OH earned £41 on his door to doors this week (DFS big heavy things and higher rate) what will he be getting for his 700 calls with the new deal?

Depends on his hours but about £12.rose wrote:So if my OH earned £41 on his door to doors this week (DFS big heavy things and higher rate) what will he be getting for his 700 calls with the new deal?
Thats £12 regardless of how many he does. If he has 6 heavy ones or none at all he'll get the £12 every week.
Tell him to vote no.

Re: Part time staff new hourly rate
Now if I've got this right
F/T = 2% rise and a reduction in the working week by 1 hour
P/T = 4.6% rise and no reduction in the working week
so that both F/T and P/T now have an hourly rate of £9.09
F/T 39hr p/w = £354.56
P/T 30hr p/w = £272.70
P/T 20hr p/w = £181.80
F/T = 2% rise and a reduction in the working week by 1 hour
P/T = 4.6% rise and no reduction in the working week
so that both F/T and P/T now have an hourly rate of £9.09
F/T 39hr p/w = £354.56
P/T 30hr p/w = £272.70
P/T 20hr p/w = £181.80

Re: Part time staff new hourly rate
Part timers and full timers get the same hourly rate now, and will continue to do so (I think, correct me if I'm wrong!) therefor the % increase must be the same.John_McC wrote:Now if I've got this right

Re: Part time staff new hourly rate
Yep that's right but to get them to the same hourly rate their pay rise has to be more this time as we F/T'ers get the one hour reductionNewPostieUK wrote:Part timers and full timers get the same hourly rate now, and will continue to do so (I think, correct me if I'm wrong!) therefor the % increase must be the same.John_McC wrote:Now if I've got this right

so that both F/T and P/T now have an hourly rate of £9.09
40hrs p/w = £347.61 = £8.69 p/hr
30hrs p/w = £260.71 = £8.69 p/hr
When F/T get the 2% + 1hr reduction
39hrs p/w = £354.56 = £9.09 p/hr
Being as P/T get no reduction on hours worked their new hourly rate will in fact raise by an extra 2.6% to come up to the same affective hourly rate as F/T.
I.E P/T hourly rate is biased upon 40hrs (as it is at the moment) then with the 2% rise their hourly rate would be £354.56 (new rate for F/T) /40hr = £8.86 p/hr so to make up this short full their rate will increase to the same as F/T i.e. £9.09 p/hr = 4.6% overall.

Re: Part time staff new hourly rate
PT pay is allways FT pay divide by FT hours X the contracted hours of the PT
Lets say there is a further cut in the working week in 3 years time from 39 hours to 37 hours but no payrise, the above formula means PT wage goes up as the hourly rate has gone up.
With the proposed agreement the above and a increase to basic pay is happening, which means PT get a extra increase to weekly basic pay.

Re: Part time staff new hourly rate
with the introduction of the shorter working week by one hour, this automatically raises every ones hourly rate from £8.69 to £8.91, on a part time, 25hr contract that increases the weekly wage from about £217.25 to £222.82, an increase of £5.57 per week.

Re: Part time staff new hourly rate
Ok my head is spinning now ! what I'm trying to say is that if this deal goes through then we all get (F/T & P/T) the 2% rise. But once the 1 hour reduction is put in place for F/T'ers then the hourly rate for F/T will change and you will have two rates of pay one for F/T and one for P/T ? so to make sure they stay the same there has to be two rates of increase to maintain same rate of pay

For a 30 hour week in my D.O, you can see the effect of the SWW for autumn figures.
April 2011
£359.49 + £20.88 supplement =£380.37/40 X 30=£285.27+ £15 defined area =£300.27 X 52 weeks = £15,614
Autumn 2011
£359.49 + £20.88 supplement =£380.37/39 X 30 = £292.59 + £15 defined area = £307.59 X 52 weeks = £15,994
