One of the three contracts in our office for next week is a C5 sized clear plastic envelope containing 8 individual fliers for different products/firms.

First time I've seen it (and boy has it come at a convenient moment!) but the fliers are really thin paper, the whole thing is not much thicker/heavier than a gas bill.

10 leaflets next week then, two of them at 1.67p, the other eight only get 1.75p between them!

I'd have been the first to agree that firms wouldn't want their ads lumping together with someone else's but I've been proved wrong today - obviously it could happen.

Door 2 door is being put into the daily work load of our people under this new agreement. This means there will be time allotted in our daily hours to prep these items. Time will be built into the delivery duties to reflect the higher call rates. The Door 2 door separate payment will be stopped and the items will be seen as letters. The early shift allowance will also be stopped. We will in return receive a 52 weeks a year paid delivery supplement (non pensionable) of £20.60p. Pro rata for part-time staff.

What this means though and I agree it is not earth shatteringly good, is that there is a guarantee of each office having a 75%/25% ratio of full time to part time workers. So this increases full time work guaranteed. The majority of part timers who wont be made up to full time don't get an early shift allowance anyway so the delivery supplement pro rata payment they will receive will cover off a good amount of what they get paid for delivering door 2 door at the moment. Not forgetting that D2D should be done at 20% a day Monday to Friday and that the floater should be getting 20% of the door to door money for that duty. I know allot of duty holders tell the floater to leave the D2D so they can claim all the money. This is wrong and should not be happening anyway. It takes money away from the floater. So this new supplement will put and end to that and the D2D items will be delivered Monday to Saturday at a rate of about 16/17% a day.

As for the numbers of door to door we will be delivering....Surely people can see turning down money for any business is suicidal?? We all may hate door to door but as TNT continue to build and grow we cannot sit back and let them take this kind of work off us, because we have self imposed limits of 3 D2D a week. The industry is worth millions. Its very important that colleague's understand that the work is going to be part of the work load. Time in the morning to prepare the items, time to deliver them whilst out on the street so it will mean shorter deliveries. Lots more overtime opportunities as lapsing will have to stop as we will have the work load to fill our hours in quieter periods. It means we can increase our item volumes even though mail is generally falling and protect jobs. Dont hate the Union for protecting jobs. Look at other industries all over the UK and ask ourselves how many of the other unions have secured a 7% pay rise over 3 years? shorting working week? guaranteed full-time work force? More sociable hours?

Lets look at the bigger picture and see that yes the agreement might not be amazing and that yes some people will lose some money but what it does do is give us all a great chance of having a job in a few years time and lets face it, You can only have a job/union/decent terms of employment if there is a company there to work for.

What a load of cock! Do you seriously believe what you have written, after all that has been said on here?

One thing gives you away by the use of the term "our people". The promise of extra time in delivery, despite the fact that there are no revision tools yet available, will be minimal - the higher your present call rate the less time available. Do you seriously think that part timers should be paid less for doing the same work? And the 17% a day on day specific will that be spread - of course not.

The 75/25 split is absolutely NOT guaranteed - it is an aim and not one that is taken seriously by anyone other than the likes of you to sell the deal and is not office by office but nationally - so an office which is currently 60/40 will stay that way.

Do you realise what a load of bullshit you are talking - more sociable hours with a standardised 6 day week and a longer Saturday? Later start times with child care issues looming and 7% over 3 years is actually 6.9% over 4 years because we didn't get a rise last year AND the 3.5% is NOT and I repeat NOT guaranteed and is 2 years away - and they say that a week is a long time in politics!

Now lets visit your final statement - If there is a company to work for - well you tell me how accepting this deal will stop privatisation, will protect jobs and preserve our working conditions? The simple fact is it doesn't and accepting deals like this year on year actually brings privatisation closer because we become more attractive to investors with a part time, low paid non-represented workforce.

So no surrender, you've already taken it up the rear!

7% Over 3 years. Make that 4. No rise last year.Agree D2D is worth Millions so why havent they changed the rate since 1996. Our PHG will be getting the £20.60 for not lifting a finger to deliver a D2D. My Driver will be getting £20.60 to take me out to my walk but not lifting a finger to deliver a D2D. So why should i go out of my way to deliver any. And where does this 'lots more overtime' come from. Who wants to go out at 4 oclock to get a couple of hours OT. Summer O/t is being dropped to 2 1/2 hours for half a walk and only 5 on your rest day. Which wiill include D2D for on extra money.

Ok well lets reject the deal....go back on strike. lose £100s that we will never get back let Royal Mail put all D2D in one envelope and get paid 1.67 for 1 item then be told there is no improved offer and let TNT take us over then.

Don't you think if Royal Mail planned to put all your D2Ds in one envelope they would have done.....just that.
You are buying into fable stories and myths.
If anything this agreement will make us much more attractive to TNT anyway.

They will automate D2D, they do it in other countries...another post on the forum says they have already had D2D bundled into one.

1 bundled D2D with 6 items inside at 1.67 x 500 calls = £8.35 you do the maths on how much you would lose. The new agreement puts the D2D into work load so basically you get paid twice. in our wages and in the delivery supplement. The most important fact is that the D2D will be classed as mail..... Not only protecting full-time jobs but creating them.

So will we be able to cut off. If we cant deliver our D2D items during our time.
