Re: The New Delivery Supplement Explained
how exactly do the cwu propose we prep and deliver up to 8 d2d.
currently our prep frames take 2 houses to a slot so if i stick 2 lots of 8 d2d in there would be no space to fit any REAL MAIL.
also on delivery last week i had 3 d2d which were standard size envelopes which nearly filled each of my pouch bags and REAL MAIL had to be crammed in which made bags overweight surely this is a Health and Safety issue.
i only have 3 pouch boxes just now so logic tells me i would need twice the amount to accommodate all mail and d2d.
do you really think after budget cuts year on year Royal Mail are seriously going to put in more man hours to accommodate more d2d time, you must be brainwashed.
i got my walk tested yesterday and my total delivery and conveyance time was 4 hours 40 minutes and i was shattered so for me personally the union live in cuckoo land they need to get out and do some real deliveries and stop listening to Royal Mails constant whining about drops in mail volumes.
we are out doing it every day and believe me there aint much more a delivery postman can do now without seriously damaging our health.
take away the loss of money part, the agreement is even more vague than the 2007 agreement.
We can only vote Yes if the agreement is totally watertight which at the moment is a farce.if CWU actually believe Royal Mail will abide by any sketchy agreement they need their minds examined.

Re: The New Delivery Supplement Explained
This supplement is also 52 weeks a year,so you'd assume that means no cut off from them at peak.Council mags, british heart foundation (with pen included),post code lottery and A.N.Other 4/5 on top to fit in a frame? plus flats etc?shizsco wrote:how exactly do the cwu propose we prep and deliver up to 8 d2d.

Re: The New Delivery Supplement Explained
Razzamadaz, can you please explain away, why I as a Part Timer delivering the same amount of D2Ds as a Full Timer, will only receive a percentage of the supplement that the full timer gets. I believe this amounts to discrimination in the workplace, and reduces my hourly rate below that of a full timer, if you take into account the amount of work expected of me.

Re: The New Delivery Supplement Explained
The official answer to that is the supplement is nothing to do with d2d. d2d payment is ceasing completely for everyone and the supplement is just a ....supplement. The real answer is that the supplement money is current d2d and esa money redistributed to everyone pro-rata so in that sense it's unfair but you'd have a job proving it in a court.

Re: The New Delivery Supplement Explained
The supplement and workload means we can move to a system where everyone earns the same for the same amount of hours work.
I can not support differing wages for no other reason than differing types of work in the D.O. Or does wage equality principles go out the window for junior staff members and those who do not deliver DTD? Take two 40 hour men/women doing deliveries with DTD both work all their paid work hours, but due to housing type one has 100 more calls than the other and therefore earns more DTD money despite no difference in hours worked. What is needed is a just transition to a new set up. So the question to ask yourselves upon voting is this a new system any good and it is it a just transition?
Ive got mbrs in my D.O who do not get shift allowance due to the 2007 deal and as reserves dont get DTD as often as some established staff, yet they work just as hard same hours less money NOT FAIR!!! RLE duties oversized packet /pouch dropping off duties same hours less money- why?
The supplement and workload is good idea the actual amount the supplement is set at is the only issue.
My 80% of my current delivery duty is 375 calls and my basic pay increase is 55 pence higher than what I loose on shift money. My supplement pro rata is £15.45 + 0.55 =£16 X 52 weeks = £832.

the only people that should be getting d2d money are the people that actually do them!!At the beginning of the most recent negotiations Royal Mail’s stance was, as they currently couldn’t compete in the UK D2D market with a cap of three contracts per week, they would introduce D2D’s into workload, remove the capping and give a one off lump sum payment. This would mean losing D2D payments for ever and lift the capping of three for no extra payment. However the CWU successfully managed to negotiate as part of the new agreement, to secure part of the revenue made on Royal Mail products and incorporate it, together with the early morning shift allowance, into a delivery supplement.
whilst your posts seem to just be a rehash of the bob gibson letter that is on the site i do as always appreciate others views,
couldn't compete with the cap in place? then why as bob gibson says then on average we are only taking 2.1 d2ds a week if indeed it is such an important revenue stream? also that some areas get none due to poor performance??
i have read the agreement and all the arguments on here are too late for me i fully understand the arguments and as such i will vote no, to be honest i am now getting sick of CWU spin! thought that was a RM trick and we could rely on the union to be straight with us
not long ago before the strikes we had a regional rep talk to us and basically tell us, support the union or it will be no longer, which our office wholeheartedly did.
This new agreement has as i read it made it clear that the CWU will now be at the heart of the change along with management, which is a good thing, however to attain this they have shafted there own members royally, my idea of a union is not one that shafts part time workers that do identically the same work d2ds pro rata, i thought it was there to protect the weak?
and no i am not part time

Re: The New Delivery Supplement Explained
If we are "competing" in this Market then why the heck are we delivering TNTs door2doors for them?? Why don't we just say NO!! TNT may well have the biggest share in this Market thats because we help them out!! If we didn't deliver them for them then they wouldn't get the contract in the first place!!

Re: The New Delivery Supplement Explained
Big Daz. Yes you are better off basic pay wise by £832 but you have not taken into account your existing D2D payments which if you do 80% would eliminate your £832, but now you will be asked to increase your workload of D2Ds for no additional payment. So the problem now is that although you still only need to work your contracted hours, unless you are in the top 10% of performers in your office, you will be subject to RMs work rate regime, which from what I can see, takes no account of age, health, fitness, size, type of walk. If the top 10% are the basis of assessment, 90% will be at risk of sack through under achievement.

Re: The New Delivery Supplement Explained
I am afraid as a part timer who gets the early shift allowance and I work those early hours opening up and unloading the lorries, I feel shafted. Been in the union over 40 years, but suddenly to find that it seems to be ok to effectivly be given a pay cut as my early shift allowance will go while my colleague keeps his phg allowance and then gets money although he has never delivered any d2d's I have lost all faith in the Union.
What was the point of striking? As far as I can see if the agreement goes through then I will leave the union. I understand there had to be tough choices but to come up with this contencious issue so that we affectivley cause arguments between posties on different rates who are doing the same work, is not the union I joined all those years ago. bring back the UPW for those that remember.

The idea is that you will not prep any or all of your D2D or your walk may have less calls so that you can complete in your time.
The general notion is that the payment is pro-rata because the work you will put into D2D will be less that a full timer. This has to be the case or will be unfair because you will be expected to do the same amount of prep as a full timer but with less time. Remember, you could always cut off if you were caught in this situation.
RM basically want D2D to be like mail is treated now. At the moment you don't go counting your letters and a full timers do you? The numbers of letters over the week may be about the same for yours and theirs, so do you expect to be paid the same as the full timer? No, you get paid for the hours that you have worked.
I know this is all contentious because it involves a pay cut for many people and I am never in favour for that. The agreement does state that there will be an appropriate cut in work for part timers because they will be built into workload.
This really is about people not trusting RM to deliver this part of the agreement.
