If the vote was based solely on branch recommendations then it maybe time to give up now....... 90 odd branches and you'll be lucky to get 10-15 pushing for a NO IMO.k979aaa wrote:I am sure their will be many more in the days to come!.dvbuk55 wrote:Bristol and District I salute youzedman wrote:Bristol and district have recommended a 'no' vote![]()

On top of this the majority of these branches pushing for a NO vote will get a YES - what does this tell you about how the officials are thought of by the members in the localities?

Your increasing arrogance does you no favours Lovejoy.lovejoy wrote:

Nor does your logic.
Are you telling me members will only follow branch recommendation if it is a positive one.
We are not sheep Lovejoy and this is not a game it is a serious issue.
What you have to remember is that the reps who are convinced by the Dave & Bob show will in turn have to convince their members.
Members who will not sit back meekly in a concert hall for fear of making a fool of themselves.
This ballot is far from decided despite your predictions and even if it is accepted HQ WILL feel the backlash if as i suspect RM resume past behavior.
I suggest you ask Tony Kearns in 6 months time just how successful this deal is IF it is accepted.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Fishtank - lovejoy is one of the glitterati he can't afford for there to be a NO vote just in case RM pull the release time, fishtank wrote:You increasing arrogance does you no favours Lovejoy.lovejoy wrote:

Even Wimbledon are running scared this time, last time, in 2007, they sent out a few PEC members to persuade the waverers - this time its the full retinue all singing and dancing bandwagon.
If your unit is like mine and you and I and the hundreds of others speak to members day in day out and hear the same thing this is nothing like a YES vote and nothing like 2007. Many of those who have been to the circus and spoken to the snake oil salesman are still convinced it is a bad deal.
I mean they are spending OUR money on trying to persuade us to lose money - I would have thought it only fair that those in the NO camp had the same resources to travel the country preaching that - or would that be too democratic?

The more the division of labor and the application of machinery extend, the more does competition extend among the workers, the more do their wages shrink together.

Whatever they think of the reps in the localities is nothing compared to what they think of the CWU leadership, the PEC and those Area and Div Reps who think more of their own position than the position of those they are supposed to represent.lovejoy wrote:If the vote was based solely on branch recommendations then it maybe time to give up now.......

This time last week our rep said there was no way he could recommend a yes vote.....
.... yesterday he went to the area meeting (whatever it is called) and low and behold today he says the deal is a good one ..... He's been got at me thinks by a union official chasing a safe labour seat in early May.
He can recommend to me what he likes it is still a no from me people.

And this is where Local reps will have to be careful.fedupwithislot wrote:This time last week our rep said there was no way he could recommend a yes vote.....

NO
They may have been convinced by HQ but the were not elected by HQ.
It is unlikely that they will have the selling skills of Dave & Bob and they risk coming across as idiots.
Without the smoke and mirrors the deal is what it is, Weak on protection and strong on pay cuts.
And if you cannot represent your members you are as useful as an inflatable dartboard.

Re: N. Lancs and Cumbria Branch recommend 'no'!
i will be voting no at my branch comms meeting but i think i will be out numbered. i have been to area and unit reps meetings with Bob and Dave but i still think its a shite deal for delivery. I personally have no problems with Bob or Daves
intentions or proffesionalism i believe they think they have the right deal. 2 fundamental problems with the deal. It requires a lot
of trust of the employer.(Union reps arent born cynical they just gain experience)secoundly Royal Mail will never have to
negotiate with us ever again because we have pretty much given them everything.
