Re: Part timer and D2d questions
I have mentioned this before. I am 35 hrs, i cover 4 days off for regular full time staff, and 1 day for AG. I prep all these rounds, but i dont deliver D2D unless its there week off. If i do cover a week off, i then step up and cover the whole weeks D2d`s. Surely i would be entitled to the same rate delivering the same equivalent of D2d`s as a full time member of staff??? ...........or am i not worthy???
I would also state that i dont get sat off, so i would be del them on sat too.

Re: Part timer and D2d questions
This is what I love about this whole d2d section of the agreement. RM and the CWU big knobs either are totally ignorant of the vastly different working practices across the whole country or else simply chose to ignore it. I am classed as part-time as I'm on a 28hr contract, but I only work 4 days a week covering days off in our office (I cover the same rounds day off each week). This mainly came about as when the 5 day week came in, I wanted the opportunity of an extra day-off to persue other career opportunities (I'm desperate to get into the film/ tv industry and planned on using my spare time to work on a project and also when possible and not covering a round on Saturday to work as a wedding videographer). There are 7 days off to cover in our office on any week so me and another chap (who is doing the job unitl he gets to retirement age) agreed that I would do 4 days and he would be happy with 3 days. As it happens, more often than not I will end up doing 5 days or even more regularly due to absences in the office and extra holiday/ days off owed cover. Even though we are both only "part-time" on the days we work, we do exactly the same as the regular postie on the round we are on. We come in at 7AM (pushed from 6AM because of the phantom EU rules regarding lorry speeds-yeah right) which is when the van turns up at our SPDO. We do the primary sorting and then throw in our round. Then go out and deliver. We both agreed with the regular posties that we wouldn't deliver the d2d's as it was just too much hassle as oftentimes they don't turn up until tuesday or wednesday, by which time if we were covering on those days it would be impossible for us to deliver our 20%. Also, everyone usually takes their d2d's home with them to prep ready for the week (putting them into piles of three) as we were told that this was not allowed to be done in RM's time only our own free-time- although from what I have read on this site, it seems clear that this is something again that is wildly different across the country) So the hassle of having to go round to each individual persons round we cover and seperate out 20% of each d2d for each seperate walk was deemed just too much aggrivation for very little monetary reward. That and the regular's were happy to keep their full 2d2 payments.
So now we have a situation where instead of getting payed for the d2d's seperately and individually it is going to be standard payment pro-rata. What the frig is going to happen in our office? There is no way in hell I am going to come in on a long weekend to pick up my 20% d2d's for all 4 rounds to prep them ready for when I start on Tuesday or Wednesday, and I certainly ain't coming in an hour early early to sort them either (not to mention the regular won't be best pleased at having to make sure my percentage is left out for me to deal with). And our RM manager says that they will not pay me for any time spent prepping d2d's so I can't do them once I get in at the normal 7AM time. My feeling at the moment is they will be going somewhere else other than through people's letterboxes- if you know what I mean.

Re: Part timer and D2d questions
ok a question
if a 25hr postie comes in and the 16% d2d have not been prepped do they have to prep them and take them or can they leave it?
I only ask as I can totally see this happening and the worry then is the p/t being disciplined for not taking them when they are already paid to take them
I can forsee a lot of willful delay issues over this and it needs to be clarified

Re: Part timer and D2d questions
Exactly the same as a full timer, but without the IPS. Some have their walk partly prepped, depending on duty, workload etc.uprising95 wrote:how can part time people prep and deliver there own walks in 5 hour ?
Anyway, your duty will be changed to incorporate any extra workload. If you have to do more prepping, whether door to doors or whatever, then the duty should be adjusted accordingly.
There's a lot of changes coming up, so your duty will likely be totally different to what it's like now.

Re: Part timer and D2d questions
You will have to do whatever you have been told to do. The workload for the duty will be worked out. If you go in at the start of your shift and something that is supposed to be done isn't, then you should get hold of your manager, tell him the problem and let him manage.feduppostie wrote:ok a question

Don't forget there will probably be two of you doing the walk, so it won't be smaller, it'll be bigger.uprising95 wrote: where they are going to get the time to prep them in i dont no.

There's talk of doing all packets, oversize, specials etc, so to do all that plus prep and deliver door to doors, well, I hope the workload tools are up to the job (and the people who use them).

that would mean putting more walks back in the office then ?NewPostieUK wrote:Exactly the same as a full timer, but without the IPS. Some have their walk partly prepped, depending on duty, workload etc.uprising95 wrote:how can part time people prep and deliver there own walks in 5 hour ?

Re: Part timer and D2d questions
If thats what they think is required to get the work done, possibly, although knowing management, they'll just hope people will work overtime.uprising95 wrote: that would mean putting more walks back in the office then ?
The whole point of the extra door to doors, is to add work, and safeguard jobs. I don't think the sequenced mail will save much time, so the aded work will mean more hours for us.
