The Union will survive no matter what - in fact situations like this inspire new reps and activists as they feel p*****d off.BELIAL wrote:I hope you are wrong cos that would be the begging of the end of our unionlovejoy wrote:59/41 YES
Also a lot of people leave after major agreements but most come back at some point - as per way forward.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

No he means ordinary postmen like me and him - not the sycophantic cronies who pimp HQs 2010 and Beyond Deal of the Century, knowing full well that it benefits no one and is couched in terms not condusive to hard and fast rules, where the revision tools and workshops will only be produced AFTER the agreement - who in their right mind is going to vote for a pig in a poke? 59%? Only if the scrutineers are in the pay of the CWU.lovejoy wrote:Who's 'they'?machineman wrote:now that scares me they already know the result !!!lovejoy wrote:59/41 YES

I suppose we shall see. It is a difficult one to call but briefings are having an affect on local reps views without a doubt. There maybe a few coming on here saying they're minds weren't changes etc but remember there are 300+ local reps at every one of these meetings.dvbuk55 wrote:No he means ordinary postmen like me and him - not the sycophantic cronies who pimp HQs 2010 and Beyond Deal of the Century, knowing full well that it benefits no one and is couched in terms not condusive to hard and fast rules, where the revision tools and workshops will only be produced AFTER the agreement - who in their right mind is going to vote for a pig in a poke? 59%? I'd back a yes vote based on following
Mail Centre Staff - most voting Yes (not looking past end of their noses at closures etc)
RDC / Network - As above
Deliveries split into ...
Very rural units / floats, drivers, indoor staff......most voting yes
Those losing money........ most voting no
Obviously there will be slight variations on the above but it will come down to turnout as much as anything which I bet despite the controversy of the agreement is still poor.

Really Lovejoy? When has the membership been lower? When has the PT membership been higher? The PT membership see no point in joining. You would be amazed at the moves already afoot to move affiliation en masse. In order to maintain any credibility the CWU needs to have the confidence of the membership and that they do not have. They are seen by most now to be nothing more than Royal Mail dupes drawn in by clever manipulative people; people they are not intellectually equipped to deal with.lovejoy wrote:The Union will survive no matter what - in fact situations like this inspire new reps and activists as they feel p*****d off.BELIAL wrote:I hope you are wrong cos that would be the begging of the end of our unionlovejoy wrote:59/41 YES

Things could have been so different before 2007 when the rot set in. The pension deficit was not dealt with then and it has now become like a Sword of Damocles hanging over us all - RM, CWU and of course the membership who continually, it appears, have to pay the price for others mediocrity. The leadership have become lazy, inept and complacent. They would rather take the path of least resistance in dealing with the employer than actually negotiating.
Royal Mail need this deal more than we do - without the workforce on board this deal is dead in the water, whatever ails Royal Mail will not be put right by starving the workforce of the rewards they deserve and giving preferential rates to DSA and continuing to finance the pension deficit.
The CWU need to tackle those two problems as they should have done two years and more ago. They need to step back, take a breath and say to themselves we are on the wrong path.

Ask yourself why the meetings are necessary - because the deal is so good they are doing a triumphal parade across the country or it is so bad they need to impress, with their jaded rhetoric, those who still see these people as the leaders of a once great union. I'm just wondering which one of these god like creatures is playing the fiddle.lovejoy wrote:I suppose we shall see. That's a very complacent view. With more full time members taking EVR and despite the claptrap in the deal about 75/25, everybody knows that RM will be offering no more full time jobs, the future looks very bleak indeed for the future of the CWU.

Agreed. an dont get me wrong ,I quite like the lovejoys and dingos of this world and not for one minute would I question their sincerity, but their judgment is shot to f**k. Take a look at what our "well informed" brothers were promoting in 2007, it would be funny if it didn't f**k me up so muchnuman wrote:lovejoy wrote:BELIAL wrote:lovejoy wrote:59/41 YES
