The devil is in the detail though mick - "commit to achieving" is NOT the same as guaranteeing 1 in 4 Saturdays off and the time scale for this "achievement" is when?realmichael wrote:the wording in the agreement is "royal mail andCWU commit to achieving at least 1 in 4 saturdays off for the majority of employees (including reserves)

On accepting agreement? On the unsequenced revision? On the sequenced revision? On the installation of the sequenced machines. When the FT/PT ratio has reached 75/25? By October, December Next April?

Re: 1 in 4 Saturdays off
I wouldn't bother - because in the agreement is a standardised 6 day week which means Saturday will be the same as any other day and it is anticipated that full timers will start no later than 0700 - 1500 then. Part timers could be later.midvillain wrote:i wish they would hurry up and let us know. the early bird deadline for my season ticket is the end of april, and i need to know if i'll be able to renew or not.

Your so right, already in my office people are reading into that what they want to read into it... "that they will be getting 1 in 4 Saturdays off"dvbuk55 wrote:The devil is in the detail though mick - "commit to achieving" is NOT the same as guaranteeing 1 in 4 Saturdays off and the time scale for this "achievement" is when?

What happens if its not achievable?....."tough...it wasn't gauranteed anyway"
I can almost hear the managers chanting "...but you signed up for it" as they enforce their new work patterns.

This ain't going to happen!!
I asked the Area Manager, and he says it will only happen if its self funding!!
So we will finish our own duty on saturday about 2, then go and absorb part of another walk, home bout 4!!
Great stuff!!

Re: 1 in 4 Saturdays off
I think the official line is "maximising" - which will mean as many or as few as is possible to manage.
One suggestion already doing the rounds is a team of 4 whereby you would each work 1/3rd of the 4th mans delivery in turn which would work but lets revisit that scenario and ask ourselves if we want to be seen to be doing a third of a round on what would essential be lapsing.
I'm sure many offices would benefit from others experience in more Saturdays off.

Re: 1 in 4 Saturdays off
DVBUK you are absolutely right. If FT start at 07:00 and all days are standardized then it will be 8hr days every day. Longs and shorts could be used but mail arrival times dictate delivery spans, any slack time will probably be used for extra prep on D2D.dvbuk55 wrote:I wouldn't bother - because in the agreement is a standardised 6 day week which means Saturday will be the same as any other day and it is anticipated that full timers will start no later than 0700 - 1500 then. So football fans are in for a rude awakening.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

We are still waiting for the magic matrix but I think it will be after the vote - no seriously, we have been looking at a number of ways because despite being a no voter, advocating a no vote and determined to leave the union if it is carried - we have to be realistic and if the worst comes to the worst then we want to be prepared to get the best we can get - but the agreement is non-specific except to say that it will be maximised - which doesn't mean a lot until we know what the revision tools are going to bring up and that is definitely after the vote.

dvbuk55 well done on highlighting the " 1 in 4 Sats Off " scenario ...As if... Some if not most yes votes will be achieved by RM wording of the deal
for us football fans ...we are well and truly f£$ked if we accept this + a pay decrease

Hey football fans no worries, the money you save on not getting the season ticket can be put towards you electric bill now that you are getting a substantial weekly paycut. Simples.
