Re: Regional meetings with NEC members
There's a meeting in the Glasgow Royal concert hall on Friday( I may add that place must have cost a right few quid to hire). I've just been informed that it's reps only? Can they do this? It's mine and every other CWU members fees that are paying for the place. What can they actually do to stop me getting in? I want to hear what Judas and his band of merry men have to say. How can they stop me going in? Are they going to get me arrested? Is this a Nazi party we're are members of now? Where are our democratic rights as fee paying members? I'm on holiday at the moment but have the backing of everyone in my DO to go and find out what actually gets said and not the spin from our delivery office rep. I'm actually the H&S rep, does that not count? Can anyone inform me of how to get in? Are there like bouncers on the doors? "Yar names not on the list you're not getting in?" " I don't like your shoes, you're not getting in?" " You're shirts not ironed well enough?" "You've had too much to drink?" Any info is appreciated.

Surely if your a H&S Rep then you should be allowed in as after all you are an elected rep. Even if you ran unopposed you still have the credentials and therefore as far as I can see there would no reason to bar you.

Re: Regional meetings with NEC members
There is one of these meetings in Manchester tomorrow (thurs) and also been told strictly unit reps only. My guess it is to single out the free thinking NO supporters and give them the "hard word".crockboy wrote:There's a meeting in the Glasgow Royal concert hall on Friday( I may add that place must have cost a right few quid to hire). Re: Regional meetings with NEC members
dvbuk55 do you want your branch to send all it's members ballot papers so they can vote on a branch recommendation? Then send another letter to inform the memership of what they have voted to recommend.dvbuk55 wrote:Odd to say that reps had been told to hang fire until AFTER this meeting on Thursday at the conference centre in Manchester - because they do NOT want a negative attitude passed on to the membership - this is a form of censorship.Spartacus wrote:He's selling his snake oil in Manchester on Thursday.
Our branch has also called a meeting of Reps in Manchester after the meeting with this snake and expect to get a show of hands on the the branch recommendation WITHOUT PASSING THE INFORMATION TO THE MEMBERSHIP FOR THEIR CONSIDERATION - somehow these branch officers seem to have put the cart before the horse - we tell them what the branch recommendation will be NOT they tell us - they are the elected representatives for our opinion not the other way round.
It's time for a bloody good shake up of this little gentlemans club - and with money from the CWU going to get a bit tight, they may have to start looking for gainful employment.

Re: Regional meetings with NEC members
I guess what DVB is saying is that instead of having a "branch meeting" immediately after the sales propaganda. The reps should report back to their members with their "new found" knowledge and THEN tell the branch what the feeling is.pjthebear wrote:dvbuk55 do you want your branch to send all it's members ballot papers so they can vote on a branch recommendation? Re: Regional meetings with NEC members
That's what's going to happen in my office let's hope we get a good turn out at our meeting. In fact that's what happens in my office when ever there's a major decision to be voted on!

Re: Regional meetings with NEC members
Correct! McBoing - the only people who will be in possession of the secret of fire will be the Reps at the meeting - NOT necessarily ALL the Reps. The Branch should recommend the feelings of the grass roots membership, who, after all, are the ones affected by this agreement, not a handful of Reps who happen to have been shown that the road to Damascus IS paved with gold by some spin merchant from London WHO HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO LOSE unlike the general membership.mcboing boing wrote:I guess what DVB is saying is that instead of having a "branch meeting" immediately after the sales propaganda. Re: Regional meetings with NEC members
Looked as though anyone could have got into the Birmingham meeting!!!!
I would have gone if I was not my unit rep and it was my day off obviously they will plan the meetings when all the foot soldiers are out delivering and the unit reps get paid attendance by Royal Mail.
Dave Ward handled matters very confidently and brushed aside grumbles with ease and nearly convinced me I would be better off, then I woke up!

Re: Regional meetings with NEC members
And the reason for his polished performance - four months of practice - this was the list given to him and his cronies 4 months ago by Royal Mail, they've spent that time running through the scenarios to flog it to the membership.cyclingrich wrote:Looked as though anyone could have got into the Birmingham meeting!!!!
