Basically anyone who doesn't deliver D2D's would be better off under this deal, no?

They will vote yes presumably...

Simply not true - we do not have to strike again - what would be the point? The negotiators have failed to persuade Royal Mail that they have by and large a committed workforce who deserve to be treated and rewarded fairly - their fault not Royal Mails. Royal Mail produce a sob story about falling markets, pension deficit, turning away business and the muppet boys fall for it.

However to get back on track.

No deal = status quo to the previous agreements - same number of D2D with payment according to agreements from 1996, admittedly the 2007 agreement is like a barn with the door open BUT HQs last communique of February 2009 NO DEALS - so that's that. They then have to defend each and every attempt to bring in new measures by EA.

Royal Mail need this deal more than we do at this point in time - when they are prepared to be reasonable then so will we BUT we need to get rid of a leadership corrupt to the core. These people have betrayed the trust placed in them by the hard working paying membership and should resign and a rebirth of this union should take place - perhaps we could call it the phoenix phenomenon.

I don't understand your post as you contradict yourself in the first and second paragraph,The outcome of your post(EA) would result in industrial action, which they say would not be supported well.

Well I suppose in the very long term it would eventually result in a national ballot - but can I just draw your attention to how long it took to get HQ off its arse for the last national ballot - in the meantime it would be guerrilla warfare which believe me is very effective - a little bit here and a little bit there, nothing is brought in with a compliant workforce - it would be a hard slog for Royal Mail all the way. Park and loop - very difficult unless you can get people to drive, unlimited delivery span - hardly it's agreed at 3.5, more D2D - nope 3s the limit. Would life be difficult - sure it would - BUT would it be any more difficult than what's in store? AND THEN OF COURSE THERE IS THE GENERAL ELECTION - AND THAT IS JUST TWO MONTHS AWAY.

Now what a feather in the cap of the Labour Party if they can square away this irritation before the election and what a kick in the arse if they can't

I think the difference now between this agreement (sic) and the 2007 0ne is the use of the internet and in particular this forum.

Never before have like minded people before had the opportunity to get together and debate and show in stark terms they are not alone.

Yes some people will say the nay sayers on here are an irrevelance, whn it comes to the vote.

That is true in a mathematical sense, but just looking at the poll on this thread and the debate as a whole on the forum, shows just how many people are emboldened by the fact that they are not alone.

Over 80% of poll voters (600 people) are saying they will vote no.

That all of a sudden is a large voice of information rich members who will no doubt be sharing their views and knowledge to the wider office audience.

I doubt very much that the cwu will have that many eager and enthusiastic reps (area and otherwise) who will be able to countenance that immovable force.

I hate to say it, but I fear this will get voted in.

I think that the result will be close, in terms of the ballot papers returned. Maybe 55% Yes, 45% No.

The people like me who think this deal is, overall, very bad will return their ballot paper with a NO.

The ones who want to grab the lump sums and can't see beyond next week, will return their ballot paper with a YES.

What's crazy is the huge number of ballot papers that don't get returned. If only half of those people bothered to vote, an overall NO majority could easily be achieved, in my opinion :arrrghhh

The point about the lump sums certainly for this year is 400 and 200 pro rata - the 400 is ours anyway, just giving it us early as soon as we agree and the 200 on the completion of the unsequenced revision, so for 2010 the net lump sum would be about £160 FOR A FULL TIMER, SO OBVIOUSLY FOR A PART TIMER PRO RATA - not exactly life changing is it?

I agree dvbuk. But what was the bung / lump sum in the 2007 deal ? Wasn't it £175, less tax ? RM know from past deals just how little it takes for some people to be persuaded to vote Yes :mad :mad

disheartened wrote:I think it'll be a close vote, with all being affected in some way, albeit some will get a bigger kicking than others. There are delivery staff who want the vr packages,so will proberly vote yes in the hope RM will start culling staff in deliveries with offers of hourage buy downs or indeed the vr packages.Mail center/processing staff now know that rm want to cut mail centers and staff in those functions who want out will vote yes in the hope their mail center is one of the ones due for the chop and therefore will get the chance to grab any vr package on offer.

It will be a close vote and many posties in all sectors of RM are looking at the full agreement not just the bad bits. Many posties are also saying if we get a 'No Vote' where do we go next? Posties over the age 50 with more than 20 year's service want to leave the business, they will probably vote 'Yes' because the workload is getting too much for them. The deal for delivery staff is rubbish and probably needs to be looked at again, £20.60 (including their early shift allowance) is wrong and I can understand why they would want to vote 'No'.

YES or NO as long as those that have a vote use it . In the past the amount of members that do not Vote is the most disappointing aspect of any Vote.
