Deconstructing the agreement Part 2

Post by Roy Mayall »

We’ve been reading through the text of the agreement to see what it reveals. This technique of close reading of a text is sometimes called “deconstruction” and is usually reserved for literary analysis.

The problem is, as we’ve already found, that the actual words of the agreement are open to interpretation. The people who put this piece of writing together may think they know what it means, but individual managers in individual offices may have entirely different thoughts altogether. This, then, leaves the agreement open to abuse.

Later hours can only be to accommodate the leech companies , I can think of no reason why Royal Mail would want to lose the commercial advantages and others that earlier starts bring.I'm OK I cycle into work and am not held up by traffic jams as my colleagues will be to get to and from work but later starts I believe will disadvantage me.The wait for the lorry in the morning bringing our mail to my rural office will be delayed even more than it is now eating into my prep and delivery time and adding to the pressure to complete. What it will be like when we face the manpower cuts that my city cousins have already shouldered I dread to think.

Totally agree with you, it needs to be black and white and not shades of grey.
