Deconstructing the agreement Part 1

Post by Roy Mayall »

Reading through the new agreement I’m struck by how far short of expectations it actually falls.

On this basis I’ve decided to “deconstruct” the text to see if we can’t find out what is actually going on within it.

" It’s not “modernisation” we’re talking about here, but regression to a past era of exploitation and oppression, and to label it “modern” in any way is to test the English language to its limits."

This is the truth.

I will be looking forward to Roy's newly-constructed Agreement as much as I have enjoyed part 1 of the Deconstructing of the Agreement.

Cheers Belial, I do my best. But there's more to come yet. I'm thinking of producing this as "guide" to the agreement, only hopefully a lot more readable. BTW "Belial" is a demon's name isn't it? From the Hebrew "Bliol" meaning "wicked one". I'm just imagining what it would be like to have a real-life demon as my postie. You wouldn't want to recieve a 739, in case it involved a journey to hell to collect your parcel. :evil/mad

in 1980, I was told in College that " In the future, there will be more leisure-time, but there will also be more Automisation, less jobs, therefore less money to spend."

This has turned out to be Prophetic. When they interviewed RM workers in London on TV, all they could talk about was the 7% rise...

If they are one of the 25 - 40,000 going, what use is 7% if you haven't got a job??????

it's true that there's a lot of bullshit flying around, and what they use in their argument is the fact that people don't write letters any more, which is true, but in no way affects the amount of shite that goes thru the post now in comparison to the days when people did write letters.

very proud to have you there writing things from our point of view, anyway.

Or perhaps the director of communications for the CWU, they obviously need all the help they can get in that department.

Great piece Roy, looking forward to part 2 :Applause

So after 4 days "deconstructing" what have you come up with, that the average walking postie does not already know?
Have our asses been shafted beyond repair or has there been a touch of lube involved?
