Re: A question for Dingo, Lovejoy or The Truth:
I am against bonus schemes, full stop.
A bonus can be given or taken away at the management's whim. No one can include a bonus in their personal budget. A lot of managers seem to be criminally minded and the bonus scheme only serves to bring out their suppressed nature. It is highly irresponsible to tempt these individuals to revert to their natural behaviour. It might be wise for RM to start testing its managers for anti-social attitudes.

Re: A question for Dingo, Lovejoy or The Truth:
This is not being "a miserable git" - it is contemptuous towards members to keep saying that lump sums and bribes (bonuses!!) are wanted. Answer that. Because it's been the assumption of the officials for years. That they could sell jobs for the sake of a few lousy quid and that this was what most postmen and women would be happy with. Or is it just that it buys your seats at the negotiating table, so you use this as a very bad excuse?"On your point of what RM would do..... well if I were them yes i'd cancel the deal, put all the pay rises into one lump sum (saving them the ongoing costs) and say to members all the change will go through for say a £5k payment. This would sideline the union and destroy and gains we have made through this process............ because it has been admitted many times on here before that a % of members will do ANYTHING for a lump sum bribe."

Yes! Good to hear some real strategy spoken. Personally I have a choice: I either vote no and take the consequences, or I leave this industry altogether. I really cannot - will not! - do any more DTD.RM didn't come to ACAS because they wanted to, It was because they were forced to. They know that they cannot hope to get a stable company without carrying the workforce with them. Also, as pointed out by one of the three wise men, striking near an election would put us in a MORE powerful position that in the run up to XMAS !

Re: A question for Dingo, Lovejoy or The Truth:
RM don't need a plan B as such.Since our owner is the govt. and the goal is privatisation then they are only too happy to cloud the main issue and get you all focused on the in's and out's of a ducks arse and all the time in the background ,DSA quietly but continuously pushes on with creeping privatisationPOSTMAN wrote:Let's throw this in the mix.
Does R M have a plan B?

Re: A question for Dingo, Lovejoy or The Truth:
plan ' b ' must exist wether royal fail or cwu want to go back under the directions of acas to do it might be in question but royal fail & cwu knew this had to go to a membership vote and after the p&m vote which many questioned the outcome, validity it will have to stand if voted down as quite frankly i cannot see why anyone would vote yes to this deal if you can call it a deal
The fact our union is using the hard sell tactic and trying to frighten the blueshirts just means the officers at the top of the food chain want at all cost to retain the cushy well paid jobs they are in .......until they get voted out or do the right thing and resign

Do you have a free opinion or do you prefer not to think?
I think you will find, that I have been critical of the deal, and the way the PEC went about recommending it to the members, but that would require you to read other peoples posts

Re: A question for Dingo, Lovejoy or The Truth:
Dosnt look like youve read the agreement,CWU have agreed there will job losses. How much jobs will go neither you nor i know partly because they havnt said how many mail centres MUST go.Saying the CWU has saved jobs is debatable and not fact. With 60000 lost in recent years they havnt exactly got a good record.Night Tonic wrote:Dirtyharry, you know as well as anyone how far I am from the CWU and you should also know that it remains the case. More telling is that those who are poles apart are saying the same thing and if you really think this deal is a 'stitch up' if it means more of those around you are likely to hang on to their jobs, then you really are in it for your own interests, not whether the CWU has fought hard for what has been gained or whether it will benefit others.
This started out as an EEC directive, then was implemented in the UK years before any other country(how far are germany and france down this road?),then unlike any other country the rules covering DSA leaves Royal Mail subsidising private mail companies, the reason to justify this are modernisation yet your mail will now arrive late in the afternoon if atoll because hundreds of thousands of peoples mail will endorsed No/Acc because the service button went off 3 hours ago,the only gains in all this are big business as the price they pay for bulk posting will be much cheaper and this if you listen to any right leaning economist /MP will tell you is a good thing.
To say all this was destiny and theres nothing we could/can do about it ,well then good luck to you.

What we used to know locally as the Scottish agreement - they kept moving the goalposts and we never qualified under the old DOMnuman wrote:tojobevred wrote:MinisterofCucumber wrote:I am against bonus schemes, full stop.

We once got as far as being told it would be in our wages that week just to be told on pay day we had missed our targets by 0.1%.
How we laughed that day.
