I'll make my decision after I've voted (a definite No from me) and see what the result is first, but must admit I'm getting a bit hacked off donating to Billy Bunter Hayes's pie fund ,the fat git !!

I agree with the people saying vote no to the agreement, but stay in the union, at least until we see what the result is. If it's a big no vote then everyone, management and union, have to go back to the negotiating table, and maybe then they'll have to consult with us over what we want from this deal.

Only thing is if too many people quit the union could it reach a point where RM could legally "de-recognise" the union? If that were to happen would they have to legally recognise a new or different union if that union managed to represent x% of all staff? If they didn't have to recognise a new union then we could get to a point where RM just do whatever and whenever as they like and we wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

Rowdy wrote:A lot of people on this site feel let down by the union over this deal, in my opinion justifiably so, but leaving the union en masse is not going to help the situation. Royal Mail without a strong union would give the management free reign to cut wages, jobs, bully and harass on a larger scale, health and safety would go out the window. Who would you go to for advice with no reps and who would fight your corner over grievances? I could go on.
If you believe that a change in leadership is needed then vote them out. Get people in who wouldn't accept a deal like this and who are not out of touch with the men and women on the shop floor. This is a democratic institution after all and we all have a vote. Use it.
Let's remember that ordinary people sacrificed so much, sometimes there lives, so that future generations could be members of trade unions and get fair representation and justice in their workplace. Please think carefully before you give this away.
