Easy to hide behind a computer isn't it.
Typically CWU tactic. Do as much as possible behind closed doors. That has worked for us. :left:
The union will never convince everyone but I can tell you that at almost every reps / members meeting that has been held so far the huge majority have left the room fully behind the decision of the negotiators.

When is your office / branch meeting?
When are you going to realise too little too late? It's over. We were let down in 2007. We were let down in November for the now infamous 'interim agreement'. Now the absolute mother of all let downs in March 2010. The members are sick sore and tired of the constant pathetic agreements and excuses which CWU HQ keep feeding us. Enough really is enough.
Ok then you just sit behind your computer gobbing off and refusing to take part in a real debate about the future of our industry, our jobs and our futures...

Thanks for arguing that the CWU haven't indeed let it's members down. Good work.

DirtyHarry........ You know that your branch and division does things the right way and I know that when a meeting is called that you will be there to have your say. Thats the way it should be.
Don't look good though, for our members doing deliveries, does it?
I mean, how does a unit rep sell this pile of shyte to 'em, eh?
What can he tell them, in terms of how their working conditions have been improved, eh?
Or, what a stonkingly great payrise they're gonna get over the next three is it, years, eh?
How does he make scant reward for back-breaking work, and yet more change to working patterns, entirely unnecessary changes to working patterns I might add, changes entirely due to the whims of people I wouldn't expect to lie straight in bed, how in the name of God does a unit rep dress up this lump of mutton in order to make it look like a lamb?

Not that I'm interested, mind.....as there is no way on God's earth I would recommend this deal to my office, Branch or no Branch.

I will answer your question if you like but you'll only find another behind the computer way to criticise.

Surely if you can justify my question to me then I won't have any cause to voice any criticism from 'behind my computer'?

Sorry, one and all. It wasn't my intention to provoke a slanging match I genuinely wanted to know what was likely to happen if a 'no' vote was returned.
Thanks for replying, Lovejoy. It seems that our choice (if that's the right word) is to accept some loss of earnings to provide some protection for our longer term employment. As Rhino said earlier in this thread, that is putting an awful lot of trust in RM's management and the stated new spirit of co-operation between them and us.
God help us all if it's misplaced.

Lovejoy you are becoming more and more childish as each post rolls by.
No-one is hiding anywhere. Why would anyone wish to PM an ordinary member like yourself. :hmmmm
The benefit from debate on an open forum is the permanant nature of your comments
No backtracking,no denials and no misinterpretation.
This deal is poor Lovejoy, full of wooly language and loopholes.
It is at best a well intentioned but poorly delivered attempt at reconciliation with our employer.
A kind of "i'm sorry i forgot your birthday please don't beat me to death with the rolling pin"
It will not stick,RM will not stick to it and we will be back here in two years but with half the membership.
And like my poor dog,we will have been well and truly castrated by then.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I'll tell you what I won't respond to this because its unbelievable.

If you really want a debate PM me your office and I can see my reps and hopefully they can get someone up to you for a face to face debate.
Can you please clarify this statement !!!!!!!

I do hope you are not even IMPLYING that if the membership reject this job cutting ;wage cutting;workload raising "agreement" that our national REPRESENTATIVES will REFUSE to perform their duties and ignore the democratic decision of the members. I Await your reply with interest
You could help to start a genuine debate by explaining the above.

That was also the case in 2007 lovejoy. That pitifully worded P&M agreement that you also recommended, which led to last year's events and where we are now, another deal which, as far as working conditions are concerned, offers nothing more than vague hopes and aims.

Lovejoy,

You would prefer to send down your dogs to bully me face to face rather than answer my arguments publicly.

I would like to take you on in a live televised debate on the CWU propaganda channel.

Will you accept the challenge?

do you see the anger of the agreement lovejoy? is a union not supposed to represent its workers and listen to our voices and fight for what we want? i understand we would have to give in to some parts but i feel the union have lost touch with the average worker and what we want, the people who negotiate our agreements havent done our job in recent times and just dont seem to grasp what is a good deal for us anymore. Royal mail will be cashing in on this agreement and passing hardly any of it onto the people earning this money for them and the union think thats fair.
