We have a part timer who is a right little grafter, will they offer him full time, will they balls!! He's earnt over £23k this year with overtime he has done but come holidays and pro rata agreements he becomes worse off. When he takes a holidays he gets 25hrs pay!
That's your problem then. Nothing will change while part timers work all the overtime that's thrown their way. The only way to get a better deal is for ALL part times to do a total indefinate overtime ban, but that would never happen as they will start bleating about not being able to afford to not do overtime.

The problem with part timers doing an indefinite overtime ban, is because as they are part time, they need the extra hours to make a liveable wage. I'm part time, on 30 hours and I don't do O/T, but the money is a struggle.

I joined RM almost 10 years ago and work 30 hours, I work just as hard as any full timer. I get rewarded for my hard work at 75% of the rate a Full Timer gets, I don't have a problem with that, I don't expect to earn the same as someone working 10 hours a week more than me.
But, the comments from postiemcg, well...Let's put it this way. Think before you post such idiotic comments. A simple point, some part timers are supposed to have their walks thrown off for them. This is supposed to be done by a full timer. This is indoor work. It keeps the said full timer in full time employment. If they don't want to do full time work, go part time and let someone who wants to work full time do it.

postiemcg, your views do not represent those of the majority of full time workers thankfully.

Oh! Was I supposed to read the letter before it hi the bin?

PT/FT what's it really matter we are all be shafted one way or another. In response to some comments about ft doing a the work for pt ppl, I work every hour I'm paid for which is more that can be said for some ft colleagues in my office. Even this week was under by over an hour by end of duty yesterday, stayed in office and found stuff to fill time before I signed out and went home went home.
IF it ain't broke it soon will be if RM have their way

I read the first sentence of that letter, something about 'successful negoitations' and threw it away in disgust. Was out in the smoking shelter yesterday and a bloke from the MC was there saying what a good deal it was, gave him a piece of my mind :whistle
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

I noticed in the letter from the union that they have dropped their commitment to no compulsory redundancies. Now it's just an :chuckle overarching :chuckle objective, get ready for the cull.
Job security? :chuckle
Not much comfort in having 75% FT when 50,000 jobs are lost is there? Cut 65,000 jobs and you could get 100% FT. Hardly a massive victory is it?

"both parties will transform relationships through a new culture ,where we identify common objectives, align interests and always seek mutually acceptable solutions"
:left: :left: :left:
What a crock. There you go folks that is our union signing out ,profit is now the no.1 consideration . Welcome to the official launch of the CWSA . Anybody ever heard of a staff association that called a strike?
Pension :chuckle
"immediate representation" "it is our view" sorted then :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle Just think "secured immediate review" then think "Hooper"
I don't think accusations of being on the take can be made but I am finding very hard to believe our negotiators are really this naive and gullible

Why now do they want the same deal as us FULL TIMERS? Come in go out easy day Nah! Could not give a you know what. Our part timer even gets holiday's you could not believe.. No I could not give a sh*** about part timers they have got it good. OH! the DTD we are expected to sort it all up for them gimme peace! And tell them to stop complaining.Full timers do 77% of the work for them anyway.
Im a part timer, work 32hr week, 6.30am start , prep, sort and deliver all my own mail, and prep sort deliver my own d2d,always go over my time and cannot claim OT . so i think your comments above are very selfish, part timers work hard so give us a break.

i.e 25 hour contract. Postie is happy to work any extra time as and when required as he needs the money. Postie averages a working week of 32 hours. Postie goes on annual leave. Postie is shafted.
Now that is something that never occurred to me - RM should pay holiday pay that reflects (for example) an average of the previous 12 weeks pay to acknowledge the support the part timer gives over and above their contract hours.
:Applause :Applause
Previous company I worked for averaged it over 13 weeks! Much fairer and reflects work loads and hours!

yes u can.. but when u open ur pay slip youve not been paid for it because the manager has ignored it so he can meet his bonus.
Thats reality.

this happens in all offices . no one can deny it. and its deliberate.

Yes you can but if your PT you will only get hourly rate until 40hrs.
So it will take a 25hr contract holder 15hrs to get the same rate as a FT colleague.

This has never happend In my office!! It's probably once every 6 months that one persons OT is not correct and this is usually down to an input error! if this does happen then the person ALWAYS gets paid the following week!!
