It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

the metting you get if you dont complete is to scare you into completeing in the future, you work your hours whether you complete or not, they will pretend you are in trouble but they cannot do anything about it, you work your contracted hours. Let them try to conduct code you to the point of dismissal they wont be able to sack you and they know it, but if they can scare you into completeing then they will.

good luck and let us know how you get on.
This is totally wrong and must be stopped!! Your hours are done on a daily basis! If you go over your working hours on any given day then you should be paid overtime!!
That's as I understand it but I have heard our lino mumbling something about people not being able to claim for a certain day because the day before that had been light and they wouldn't have worked their time.

I've also heard one of the drivers (a total gob-on-a-stick) saying that you can get into trouble for claiming overtime when you've finished early on other days. He actually said "...it's classed as fraud"

What you should do then, is bank an hour every day, with his agreement, and then on Saturday, tell him you can only work 3 hours, cos you`ve got 5 hours in the bank !!!!!!!!

It is easy don't do anything over your hours bring the mail back,if your manager say's anything tell the idiot that you are contracted to work how ever many hours and that until he treats you with some respect you are not working over he can't bank hours and you can not be forced to work over yours if he tells you to take the mail tell him to put it in writing to you with his name at the bottom he wont do it but at least he wont be able to take you for a ride and once you stand up or your self others will follow.

Taking account that I had to claim last Saturday's overtime (4 hours in total over my contracted 4.5 per day) on Monday (so I expect to get paid for it next Thursday), I'm not sure if I have been paid the correct overtime or not, due to a new overtime rate for me on this week's payslip!

Weekday overtime @ SSPR: 17.30
Weekday overtime first 10 hours: 3.20

If the above means I have been paid 20.50 hours overtime, then that sounds about right (new big round, doing ~9 hours a day from prep to leaving depot, so ~5 hours overtime a day) .

Thanks for any enlightenment! :D

Yes until you hit 40 hours you get the normal rate of pay which is the SSPR I think. After 40 hours the rate goes up and this the "Weekday OT first 10 hours" part.

BTW if you do 50+ hours or more then the rate per hour goes down
