Daveyctvr,First of all it is a bad deal, but can i correct you on a couple of points.

You say you work 27 hours, for that you would get around £13.60 not £10 for your 700 drops.

A FT would get around £8 for his 700 drops after losing their ESA.

Lets not make this a FT/PT thing it is wrong for all.

I think its ok but i'm going to assume full-timers will sorting the walk up for the part-timer so if its not prepped in time i'm going to assume he can leave it.

Now that is one way to look at it which makes it totally legal as it's based on attendance hours. The fact the money is comming direct from d2d revenue and PT are loosing that more than FT are loosing it makes it morally corrupt but probablly not illegal. Vote NO.

It has been described to me as a basic pay supplement.

I thought all that early shift allowance stopped years ago. Did you only get it if you worked before 6 in the morning? That's why every full timer comes in at 6 now?
I'm not aware of anyone in my office still getting that although I've never seen any Full Time colleagues payslip recently...

To coincide with the introduction of the national agreement unit payments will cease and the 3 items per week cap will be removed. D2D Monies will be turned into a delivery supplement paid 52 weeks a year for all delivery employees (OPG and ORR) pro rata for part time employees

All deliveries are equal so technically delivery supplement should be equal to all POSTMEM/WOMEN.

The early shift allowance 1 and 2 finished in 2007 and the union were able to get grandfather rights for anyone who was in reciept of this figure. The £ 12 payment was for 0500 and the £6 was for 0530. No one who now starts at this time will recieve these payments. Last year 3 million pounds of the reserved rights of the early shift monies left the industry. In the future the workplan will mean that not many will start before 0600.

The early shift allowance is paid pro rate to part timers and not many part timers in fact recieve it at all. The Union decided to put both this allowance and the door to door into a supplement which will be paid 52 weeks per year and will increase in future years.

Not if the P/T er is getting ESA, as they do in my office.
Most start at the same time as FT staff, and cover FT duties, Most of the permanent PT duties also have higher call rates on their fixed duties the only difference is they don't have to do IPS.
Another thing is RM and CWU are saying this is a Deliver Suppliment so as P/T ers in my office do all preping and a full delivery does this not leave it open to The Equal Pay Act. ( Just a thought ) !

I would like someone to explain to me why the fact I am losing my esa (12.50 a week that was supposed to be grandfather rights) means this is a good deal for me - or many of my colleagues

I earn around £24 a week for my d2d's but that is an aside

It was my understanding that my esa was protected and as the union keeps telling us the 'pool' that my esa allowance was being paid from is shrinking every year - why then does it need to be absorbed??

this is a sticking point for me not the major one though

even though I am full time I remember being an ag and I work with a lot of damn good part time people that are barely keeping their heads above water now

family people that work hard

the fact that our union can so casually suggest that they should be paid less than me for doing the same work is disgraceful

I have always supported the union but they have got this very very wrong

a union is supposed to be about getting a good deal for all it's workers

I can't stand by and watch people being shafted

the time to unite is now because if we let this happen then the divisions will have been made f/t against p/t, mail center against deliveries etc etc

and then all is lost

we need to all look deep inside ourselves and vote for the best agreement for all posties not just for ourselves

the fact we seem to be fighting our own union over this just makes is worse

2007 deal also said ESA would go upon pay restucturing but would stay if nothing could be worked out with the money.

Sounds like this wasnt clear enough back in 2007

A lesson to be learnt for the future for the CWU.

Daveycvtr, The vast majority of FT delivery postman will lose their £12.37 Network 2007 Pay Protection with this deal.

Therefore meaning a FT DELIVERY POSTMAN will get £8.23 for doing uncapped D2D.

it is morally wrong but legal, because this suppliment will have no mention of door to door, it will be a basic pay suppliment which means officially all door to doors will be done for free, part timers argue its not fair but in reality they are gaining more than full timers as full timers are losing their £12 shift allowance which means only a gain of £8 from the rest of the £20.60, but part timers who dont get early shift allowance as the moment might get £15 when this goes through so they gain £15. Lets face it everyone has a right to feel hard done by but dont try to make it sound like the only people who have a s**t deal are part timers, full timers do too. We are in this together.
