Ok dvbuk
If we end up with new work rates and workloads etc which are agreed with the CWU then that willbe what is used for the revision.

Did he also mention that the objective was to get the pension sorted out too - oh the £400 a week - well thats going to take a leeeetle bit longer considering we are taking a pay cut, no pay rise last year, 2% this year, 1.4% next year and how much in 2012 -Tamsky wrote:Is it not part of the strategy that absorbtion becomes less likely if D2D into workload. As I see it 6 D2D a week at 100% call rate each day reduces ability to absorb. Combined with shorter working week and agreed workrates and longer spans, lapsing should disappear and members get back to settled duties.
At the briefing Bob Gibson restated the CWU objective was 35 hr week and £400 basic pay.
Don't be overawed by title and position these people will say anything to get people to believe - they're very good at it because that it what has got them where they are.

Re: Report from Bournemouth briefing
The work rates have not been agreed and the revision tools are not yet in place and you put a great deal of faith in the word IF. Lets for arguments sake say the work rates and revision tools are agreed and are higher than expected what do you do then - go to HQ - no of course not because you have to work with what you are given and more than that you have to attempt to be within the top 10% of those work rates nationally - and if you aren't.......................... well there will be sanctions.Big Daz wrote:Ok dvbuk

Don't you find it odd that they can come up with a figure of 10% for efficiency standards across the board but cannot come up with a formula for a call rate, that they have had four months to come up with this "agreement" and yet the detail of revision is not yet ready..................... well call me an old cynic but I believe there is more to come that we won't like and it's bad enough as it is.

Re: Report from Bournemouth briefing
i feel like crying, i'm so frustrated with this proposal. 18 years i've been walking the streets and i actually liked the job(believe it or not).
well i did until i read the agreement. i can't believe that rm and the cwu can expect delivery staff to work how this agreement is proposing we work. it's so demoralising that i'm pretty much lost for words. every house everyday, for £12 after you've spent god knows how long throwing in and prepping d2d on a PT duty. come on rm and cwu we're doing one of the most physical jobs in the country and your'e making it harder. i'm only 35, i go home and i ache my knees, shoulders, back, feet they all ache! The thought of putting up with this deal for however many years leaves me wanting to rip my hair out, it's awful. the only thing that keeps me even remotely intersted in stopping with rm is my customers on my delivery and the bond that i've built up with them!
i almost feel like both the union and rm treat it's members and employees like retards who can't read or write etc, like oh they're posties they haven't got the intelligence to make informed decisions or see through the lies. i feel so badly let down. i feel like we're being asked to do the impossible in regards to the performance standards etc. i feel like we're being lied to. have looked at VR would get £18000ish no good for me though have a mortgage, two kids so i think i'm stuck here. that makes me angry and depressed.
am going for several pints of cumberland ale now, things might be better in the morning! :mfo :lfo :cfo

Re: Report from Bournemouth briefing
True,it's funny but the reps get no recognition from the members but they still plod along! No recognition!!
If maybe etc,(Grey Area) is only because some offices already do 8 hours Saturdays. Some offices already accepted Pegasus. Some Offices are already listening to new business plans. Some offices already accepted no 12 O'Clock collections. Some prefer 4 day weeks. Some prefer it this way. There-fore you have a set of options in which will become apparent. It's how you implement them. That means YOU.Not Ward. Not Hayes.YOU.

Re: Report from Bournemouth briefing
Longer delivery spans to maintain FT jobs, are they having a laugh! They dont seem to realise that for the majority of us senior posties who are predominantly full time this is just a way of "killing us off" and yes you guessed it replaced by a partimer. The cwu now seem to have completely ignored all the trials that they and Rm did a few years ago when longer delivery spans werean issue., : they were rejected on the grounds of health and safety so what has changed

Re: Report from Bournemouth briefing
Remove the cap, pay us for one item (20.00- 12.00 shift allowance= £8.00), give us 5,6,7 etc to deliver and wow! what a profit margin they've created. Do they think we are really that dull? More work for less pay - it's the oldest one in the book. When are the leadership going to modernise and come up with some progressive thinking and not just accept RMs philosophy on constantly screwing the workers. Why not run Royal Mail as a public service and not a profit driven business. After all where do all the profits end up?(eg Adam Crozier). Maybe instead of capitulating to mail centre closures and redundencies, they shuold look at a real shorter working week for all operational grades instead of telling us we should be grateful for having a job. It's time for a clear out at the top of the CWU and time to elect representatives who are actually doing the job.
