I thought for our 1.67p Door To Doors Royal Mail gets paid 5p.

If you look at the link you will see prices range from £59 per 1000 to £32.01 (with a possible discount of 15.5% if you send over 200k so £27.05). This means Royal Mail gets paid between 5.9p and 2.7p per item at the 20g weight band. This means there could be as little as 1p to cover walk bundling, distribution costs and profit (if there is any??) at the lower end of the scale.

On the other side that means RM can get as much as 4.23p per item (for the 20g scale and maximum of 8.28p per item for 80-100g).When you factor in that D2D are not bundled and distributed individually which is much more efficient and a typical walk can have 500 drops that can make anywhere up to £21.15 profit (£41.40 for 100g) per D2D per delivery for Royal Mail. And for that they pay the postie £8.35 (£8.75 for heavier D2D)

Yes, there isn't much margin in a single leaflet - but then there doesn't need to be when 60 million are going through the system every week. RM can afford to pay us more than what we get now and still make millions every week from them. We do the hard graft getting them through the doors so why should we get NOTHING for doing them?????????????

I would like to see payrise and end of doors 2 doors nonsense and we should not do them apart from election materials. But that is about likely as Birmingham City winning champions League.
It is waste of company resources and we should be focusing on delivering letters and parcels.

My friend worked in a paper shop some years ago, and newsagents were paid for inserting junk mail--then, dependind on the paper, it ranged between 4pence-7 pence per item. And that was only for putting them into the papers, noe delivering them. and we still get paid 1.67p. and that soon to be reduced.

When we talk about the pricing structure for D2Ds and that we are making a marginal profit even with the payments remaining the same - if a pricing structure that actually gave us a profit was made for the DSA market we could leave D2D alone.
