A LITTLE OF THE FOZZIE N A LITTLE OF THE GEORDIE THANK YOU!

Post by L Tommo »

Right the last two post are somewhere that RM could be a "GREAT PLACE TO WORK" AGAIN!!! The high achieving/working postie whom needs to earn the O/T can and should be rewarded for a job well done buy a good rate of O/T pay. And RM will get a job done to a high performance. A fair days work for a fair days pay!! BUT RM stopped the fair days pay as they constantly move the goal posts. Now they expect US to work under constant pressure of Job losses, Harrassment, and time cuts. No wonder WE dont feel valued when a chn4 Prog Dispatches shows Poor management and poor behaviour of staff and lazy posties that only want to fleece or thieve as they showed. I know it was all a propaganda stunt but the fact RM actually employ and dont train or put them thru the tests people did 10 or more years ago indecates they want as fozzie says, "low-skilled manual labourers." And pay minimum wage if they could.. Losing the skilled people that are in the job..

The Way Forward... Still and will always stick in my throat. It drove a wedge in this country between the north and south mainly, and rural and Big citys. What we all lost on Night allowance and Weekend allowance, Driving. And the way they opened up the door for the back biting and throat cutting of our own by our own.. The posties own worse nightmare is ourselves sometimes, Cutting up our own jobs then moaning that RM want to lose hrs in a office just makes me sad  The 30 piecies of silver always comes to mind.. We reap what we sow... Yes there is a rule of the jungle attitude that the fittest will prevail.. But i like to think that a fairer way can be used in life and work... Human nature is one of greed when there is a shortage of something, Look how people act when they have there O/T. cut out of an office and Hours lapsed after O/A. BLOW OUTS or A/L and RM should cover all duties but try not to. WE run around trying to under cut or use all kinds of sculduggery as ive seen in my D.O. before. RM start this trend thru trying to save from US, OUR JOBS FIRST not bad management skills or incompetance as many dont know s**t about man management  They take away the PHG grade then ask dick head post grad students to come in and manage out of THE WAY FORWARD hand book (more like WAR N PEACE) I wonder where it all goes wrong :d'oh!

ROYAL MAIL, the reason WE are in this s**t is squarely on YOUR shoulders DONT TRY AND BLAME THE WORKERS AS YOU ALWAYS TRIED BEFORE. THE PUBLIC AINT AVIN IT AND WE AINT AVIN IT EITHER!!!!!

OUT....

Just seen a great prog on BBC2

Post by F0zziebear »

There a prog. on BBC2 tonight at 9pm. It charted the origins of why we are in the position we are now. If you did not see it, then try and get a copy.

In summary: Are humans
a: In it for themselves
b: In it for the greater good

Unsurprisingly we have played around with both polemics and had disasterous effects. The programme essentially said that we have experimented with the concept of 'being in it for themselves' and giving life over to the free market. We have a situation where we are trying to measure everything, and this view point has infected Royal Mail aswell as any other company be it public or private. Labour essentially copied the Clinton years.

It seems to me there are employees at Royal Mail who can be 'a', 'b' or even a combination. Unfortunately people can only be either a or b. This trys to simplify life and we are probably mainly a combination.

Why do I say this? Well bascially if any of you want to leave a legacy to society try and find a happy medium!

I bid you farewell

it is still down to the old problem, what is a days work, how much is a days work, how long does a days work last?
managers and planners seem to forget that we are in one of the most fluid working environments possible, they want a maximum impact for every day, but if you measure by a tuesday for example and give staff a situation where they are constantly busy, what happens at the moment a friday turns up and the workload doubles,we either go into o/t or cut of, and there is the problem as a group many of us expect to make 4 to five hours a week and then scream the house down if we have to work extra for a day
whats the answer you could go into piece work, where you are paid by how much mail you deliver ,but how do you measure the volume, recently in an attempt to put sorting onto my duty i was told that the previous thursday i had delivered 900 plus items, but my duty and i have been tested three times over the last few years, all on a wednesday, and all of those came to 1500 plus items so rm cant be trusted to tally volumes and they cerainly would not trust us
we could be asked to do extra work on lighter days but how do you forcast that, i have had some really bad tuesdays, and sats of late ,so what would happen when things got busy
we could put extra work on the faster people but why should they be punished for working harder, this seems to be happening a lot at the moment expectations are higher off some people than others maybe we should introduce grades where you get a higher rate of pay if you qualify this lets the slower people plod along but rewards the faster workers
one of the greatest changes i have seen over the last few years is in attitude, we always said it did not matter how much time you made as long as the job got done properly now everyone truly seems to be out for themselves and sod everything else, this seems and no insult intended to anyone to have increased as the numbers of full timers have dropped and part timers increased, probably because many part timers have other things to worry about family other jobs etc where as full timers could concentrate on the job at hand
my own oponion is that we need to get back to the days when been a postman had esteem attached to it and you wanted to do the job,if the pay was high enough the hours right, and many of us joined for the early starts ,and the job, with fair expectations from both sides was reasonable then you would have a staff who where willing to work and afraid of loosing that job, all we have at the moment is a managment who will do anything to get shut of us because we are viewed as lazy trouble causes, and a pension and thats seems to be fuc/ed at the moment

as an ex manager myself i truly believe that half the problems within royal mail are caused by bad managers enforcing bad ideas with a truly shi/ attitude the problem is that the other half of rm problems are caused by us the staff who can be bolshy, idle , jobs worths with no more interest in our own futures than making an hour or more in some places, but at the moment we are run by two four year olds arguing over the last sweet, and by that i mean rm and the union

TIME IS ALL I CAN GIVE YOU!!!!

Post by L Tommo »

The Quote "We cant give you anything else but time!! Time is all we can give." That is what We at ELMC was told of how RM and the job would be run. We were offered job and knock and A local rep brokered the deal in writing with top bods from East London. It went swimmingly for about 1.1/2 years then "WHOLLOP" "Oh you remember the time we LET YOU WORK YOUR NUTS OFF FOR, AND WE let you get out early?" WEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLL!!!!" were not letting you have job and knock any more so you work till time!" BUUUUUUTTTTTT you still have to hit the targets you were before. or we will doo you for A GO SLOW!!! NICE ONE!!!! We knew all along in our hearts that the deal wernt worth the paper it was wrote on. But as O/T. was lapsed and hrs ripped out ( CWU trying to ease and work a deal so we didnt lose to many HRS and jobs) It was the only thing worth while having. (SOME SAY?) Job and knock is such a dangerous game to play, And doublely dangerous when you play with lies n cheats n bullies!!! A D.O. is a different kettle of fish, Working to your 318 is the ONLY WAY TO GO!! SHOULD BE IN ALL RM JOBS!!! But a M.C. is a place where time gets you down... No incentive and Lots of people spending more time hiding from work than doing it!! I cant stand A.G.'s, It aint the people but its the fact the CWU say they will try to get as many full time jobs, Well in the past a few did make it full time, some dont want full time. But what happened to FULL TIMERS RIGHTS went out of the window, in my opinion. CWU just wanted more subs and RM more part time less full, As it now stands is the case we all know... The CWU headquarters sounded out the European law of discrimination against AG's so they get all the perks we get now and half the grief!! They shouldnt sign for our O/T. But they do... RM quote the 9 hr away rule but this will never hit a AG even if they worked 12hrs before there 4 or 5 hr stint... As it could be that they work outside of RM and RM dont care how much they work there!!! WE DO AS ITS OUR £££££££ AND ONLY £££££££ coming in unless your BIG AL OR lil adam with there mucky fingers in many pies!!!!

IVE GOT THE RIGHT UMP!!!! :mad :evil/mad :arrrghhh

Too be fair, you can't have it both way's,i mean if you were the boss would you be happy for someone to finish at 11.30
and pay them till 1.00! (truthfully...no, and multiply that by 80% of the office) i can't even think of another industry that lets
this happen!
The union have let us down big time, while most people thought great i can make a bit of time, the business has used this smokescreen to erode the prestige and value of a full-time position.
Does it make any odds to the union if the majority of people are full-time or part-time?,it's contributions that count.
as pointed out in another post,it appears there is a lot of apathy amongst our members, more likely it's issues that don't really affect them as their part-time.

The solution is simple don't give royal mail any time to cut jobs- its easy, don't start early, don't use your car, have your breaks at the right time DON'T DO YOURSELF OUT OF A JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Javid & Tommymac.. UR RIGHT!

Post by L Tommo »

In a D.O like urs it must be gr8 to have such comradeship, Big Dave is in my mind and if i was back @ work i would be championing his cause, i have been with pals i trust and letting them pass on the news and down right BULLSHIT RM hand out AGAIN! :no no When you work in a MC with a large amount of AG's then as robd said in his last post, "it's issues that dont really affect them as their PART TIME." Says it all to me and the Union DONT CARE ! ONLY IF THEY ARE GETTTING THERE SUBS EVERY WEEK!!! Maybe "dont care " is a bit harsh but it seems THE CWU havent got the row in em when it comes to this subject and then RM & CWU both use the European laws and we all know what a load of bollocks they are!!!!! I dont want a unfair playing field on both sides, But i do expect WE the CWU to augue the FULL TIMERS RIGHTS AS PARAMOUNT!! Shame that they dont, in my view!!

Weak management is what i blame for most of the problems in my M.C. From the top to the line managers that crawl around doing the DIRTY WORK. ARSE LICKING AND BULLYING! There jobs are under threat more so than ours but they dont have a union to back em at all.. They jumped the fence compleatly!! This is where Unity is strenght IF used 2our advantage!!! :pray

As for Margie he is sitting at home with a s**t eating grin and a tongue all brown :no no Me thinks he just came on here for a wind up. Silly old duffer!! U can see him anyday on the front in margitttt feeding the seagulls as they crap on his old Royal Mail Visor Hat with badge. The times when The G.P.O. was KING.. As he cries in to a soggy bag full of 739's n Fishermans friends. STILL shouting to all that will listen, "CLEARRRRRR THE TOWN CORNER BEFORE YOU LEAVE YOU DIRTY BUNCH OF SCOUNDRELS!" and to any kid playing on the front. " NO HORSEPLAY NO HORSEPLAY!!" " FIVE YEAR SERIOUS FOR YOU SONNY" Then sobs again and shuffles off (back bent) urine sack hanging off his right ankle... AHHHHHHHH POOR OLD MARGIE!! AHHHHHH!!! CUCKOOOOOOOO CUCKOOOOOOOO!

OUT ..

DONT LET THE LACK OF MARGIE GRIND US DOWN THERE IS AWLAYS ANOTHER DUM ARSED SCREW TO BROWSE THIS SITE!!

he'll soon be making a visit to the place below and not to make a delivery.
