Clearly the D2D is a contentious issue and even the management and union seem not to understand it.

RM share and quality of D2D has declined and last year RM refused D2D contracts worth £40m due to the cap on 3 per week. TNT share had increased. RM must take this work back from the competition.

If RM were refusing contracts because of the caps why have there been so many weeks when I have had only two and sometimes - rarely - one? The TNT share has increased. Anyone look at the labels on D2D leaflets and notice how often they are sourced by TNT. Clearly it is more economical for them to get Royal Mail to deliver their leaflets. Is there a Downstream Access for D2Ds? Confused.

Every union member should.
Because every non-member is a potential member and if this deal is supposed to convince them to join then the union has had it. :hmmmm

Yes, and every manager is a potential friend! No place for non members. if they want to discuss the failures of the union negotiators let them join and become involved. Until then we will continue to subsidise their wages.

There was no vote at Bournemouth so no-one knows what the reps present felt about the Agreement. There were several questions and contributions from the floor that would suggest less than universal approval.

I'm an area delivery rep on 20 hours release a week - not full time release. I will give members the info I have and it will be up to them how they vote. If the deal goes through then I will negotiate with RM. I will be just as prepared to go back on the picket line if I am convinced it will get a better deal.

While i love a good conspiracy story as much as the next man I do wish some posters on here would concentrate their fire on the real enemy.

Cheers Lemuel and clashcity for the kind words. :Very Happy

Fishtank is absolutely correct without the inclusion of non-members and the attempt to recruit them and believe me that is no easy task since the advent of the 2007 agreement, the work place will soon be populated by non-members who are part time and couldn't care less about agreements - the pity of it is HQ have done nothing to attract new members by making payments pro rata - add to that the exodus and you truly have an organisation in crisis.

It's pretty safe to say that sometimes what looks good on paper translates poorly into reality and six months down the line everyone involved will be sorrier for the experience.

I think I understand it now - but then again maybe not

Hmmmmmm.......Now let me get this right ......

We take a pay cut and take on a bigger work load so that Royal Mail can take twice as much business that will earn half as much revenue due to re-pricing because at the end of the day they simply want to deprive another company (TNT) of it, that already feeds it back to Royal Mail because they can't cope with the workload.

Monty Python never did DTD sketches but if they did - this would be the one.

Part timers are not going to join the union after this deal gets through!
They are not joining now!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Average D2D £12?

Is dave ward out of his freaking mind?

This deal is a PAY CUT with MORE WORK.

If I knew going out on strike would have meant a loss of ESA and D2D payments i wouldnt have bothered.

Weve been robbed blind boys and girls.

End of.

Jesus!,was that report from bournemouth written on a tea bag cos the replies given from the platform are full of holes. The Health & Safety section in particular is a contrary pile of mince ,has Dave Joyce been shot or something?!

Its the kind of agreement you get when your in a position of weakness ie: calling of the strikes, secrecy clause, months fly by etc.We were told leave it to the 'negotiators',well it seems like Royal Mail had the better arguments cause Dave Ward is starting to sound like Allan Bloody Leighton.

Even if i was to go along with the free market/ money is tight mantra, the total arse they have made of dealing with the fair workloads and bullying issue is beyond forgiveness..

What tends to get completely missed at events like this briefing it that members will be voting on THE AGREEMENT, NOT on Dave or Bobs interpretation of it. We are talking about the 80pages of writing, that's what we are agreeing to NOT the opinions and views of CWU brass who helped draft it. It's all about the wording of THE AGREEMENT. Now this agreement which determines our future is wooly, wishy washy, vague. It does NOT protect us in any way because it can be interpreted by DOMs to suit their wants.

With this agreement which we are voting on DOMs can:

- decide not to allow more Saturdays off due to 'local issues' - so we end up on same rota as now with 3pm finishes every Sat.
- set parameters on Pegauses to whatever values they like so long as THEY think they are fair and create equal walks - thus making the 'performance issue' a continuing tool for them to bully people with and making impossible duties
- make posties deliver for 4, 5 or 6 hours in the rain, wind and heat of summer, ensuring a typical career lasts 10 years before bad joints forces resignation. Very handy as they could close the pension scheme with such a staff turnover.

There are NO safe-guards to prevent the above, only vaguely worded 'aims' and it does not protect us from executive action atall just has open to interpretation sentences about the CWU being consulted about change.

We can't trust RM, fact, so by passing this 'open' Agreement we will be giving them free reign to increase our workload beyond belief, cut our wages and give us nothing in return, no 'more Sats off', nothing. Oh sorry, 400quid - PRO FOOKIN RATA! :evil/mad :evil/mad :evil/mad

Exactly. The leadership have been trumpeting the shorter working week but they can't even spell out how this is going to be implemented. Is it to be 1 hr less on a Tuesday, because RM are still expecting it to be the lightest day anyway, or 12 min less each day, which frankly will mean sweet FA to anybody.
