Re: In my wages today.
A pay cut? but you could also be working 1 hour less a week - considering some people moan about not having enough family time, this (admittdly only minor) helps.. Considering we do 40/week that is a lot of hours vanishing in an average office - do you believe RM will be capable of fitting all this work into 39hours? I can see either a shorter working week or overtime being paid frequently!
And ask yourself the question - do you think you would get a deal like this if RM is privatised - which either by this or the next govt. it will be - it's only a matter of time.. Do you think a private company would be willing to offer loads of money for you delivering leaflets? Would they place a cap on the numbers? I doubt it.

Boddy hell here we go again!banddy wrote:the difference is, you now have job security and you will be paid to prep your d2d - whereas before you put the d2d up in your own time.
your also getting 1 hour off.
when the mechanisation kicks in - it will be later starts for everyone so probably shift payment would go down anyway.
in case nobody notice - they had to reach a deal to protect your pension. the govt said no deal no pension guarantee. so now they are lobbying to get the pension settled.
taken in the context of the worst recession in a lifetime and thousands of people are losing jobs, pay (british airways) blah blah, we WILL be lucky to keep our jobs.
i went on strike for job security - which has been offered to us - unless you want EVR in which case you would get enhanced rates - not the state minimum like lots of people.
i will be voting yes - what alternative would a no vote make?
Its up to you how you vote, but I think you need to go back and read that agreement again. Every ordinary working postman is a loser with this agreement, RM will be laughing down there sleeves if this goes through.

"You should be greatful fo keep your jobs" is the sort of thing our DOM used to say during WTLL sessions, remember the profits RM recently announced or the 2 million Croziers getting in his golden handshake? Does that sound like we were struggling?

To save going over it all again, here is the oriional thread along with a copy of the agreement. http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 36&t=11243 Althought the agreement is dated 1996, it has not been superceded and is therefore current.snoopywonderdog wrote:Fluke wrote:Boddy hell here we go again!banddy wrote:the difference is, you now have job security and you will be paid to prep your d2d - whereas before you put the d2d up in your own time.

Re: In my wages today.
We have to look at what has caused the D2D problem. Lots of people refuse to do them when that happens they arein effect saying they dont want/need the money, That must make it hard for the CWU to put up an argument to increase the payments. The soloution would have been to lift the cap and collect the old rate and we would have got a pay rise. if the contracts had grown.
The problem would have been no prep time and lots of people picking which D2D to do, making it harder to get more contracts if we are to survive as a company we need to be able to gurantee the service. Putting it in workload makes us ALL fill out our day and protects our job.
Rember the £20 supplment is paid 52 weeks of the year regardless of holidays sick or if there are no D2D you need to look back over the year and see if this equates to as much money as you get on D2D some weeks we have one or no D2D's
