POLL: Would you accept the offer in its entirety if......
Our pay was at a minimum kept at the same level as at the moment after the 2% rise. (But we get to keep the next 2 rises)

Re: POLL: Would you accept the offer in its entirety if......
I get around £35 a week for DD and network payment, I get 3 DD every week without fail as i live in one of the most populated areas of England, I would have been more happy if the supplement was around £45, Then i get an extra £10 and RM get loads more DD delivered for free, DD is the biggest issue for me.
The other thing that bothers me is the lack of set standards, yes i know "Workshops" are being set up to agree this in the future but i wanted fair systems of working set in stone that i could judge and vote on, pegasus speed and call rates and indoor agreed standards, the whole "Deal" has been a huge dissapointment

I'm a 'NO' as well. This dispute was not about pay. I understand the need for change but the CWU have got this all wrong. This deal will make our working conditions even worse than they are at present.
The only explanation that I can think off, is that after 4 months of being in the same room as RM, our negotiators were suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

as an undecided voter this is the kind of info I need, please explain to me exactly how this new agreement will make our working conditions even worse than they are now. There are no caps on delivery spans.billypants wrote: as an undecided voter this is the kind of info I need, please explain to me exactly how this new agreement will make our working conditions even worse than they are now. Cheers.
Imagine your park and loop buddy goes sick. Someone on light duties throws off the two rounds before your start time. As you walk in the door at the start of your duty the manager tells you to deliver both rounds in your eight hours.
There are no agreed perfomance standards.
If you need to finish on time every day to pick kids up etc, you will have to cut off. We know managers don't like this, and your work rate will be under scrutiny. Unrealistic and most probably humanly impossible work rates may be used as a way of getting rid of you.
What will Royal Mail's interpretation of the top ten percent be? 6 foot 4" 20 year old males? We simply cannot all work at the same rate.we want to bring everybody’s actual performance up to the level of the top 10 per cent performance consistent with good employment policy, appropriate equipment, safe working practices and consistent with national agreements.

UNLIMITED D2D, OPEN ENDED DELIVERY SPAN LENGTHS, SATURDAY A NORMAL WORKING DAY (PROBABLY LONGER WITH CUSTOMERS WANTING THEIR D2D`S DELIVERED ON THE SATURDAY). NO way should we accept these conditions. Think its hard work now? If a YES vote then this will be a reality.

would accept the 2010 and Beyond offer if our pay was kept at current earning levels
Its not all about money!!!
Money doesnot = happiness.
Its about the crappy hours they want you to work and the lack of care & respect shown to the workers when all this was agreed between the CWU and the RM and the amount of work expected. It all stinks to high heaven and its about time they all got real.
I would if I could still vote NO!!

Depends on your start time? If I start at the same/similar time to now then somebody on light duties would not be starting before me so this is generally an unlikely scenario. It might happen but would be exceptionally rare IMO.Imagine your park and loop buddy goes sick. Someone on light duties throws off the two rounds before your start time. As you walk in the door at the start of your duty the manager tells you to deliver both rounds in your eight hours.
RM haven't got a clue about standards, how can they impsose a standard when the majority of managament wouldn't be capable of doing. I say stuff it, let them try to get rid of me for not performing to a standard that does not exist - it wouldn't stand up, simple as that.Unrealistic and most probably humanly impossible work rates may be used as a way of getting rid of you.

Let them sack all the F/T staff, then replace them with who? The number of P/Ters that have come and gone in our office over the last year or so just proves how flawed their ideas are; we are still short on staff despite continuous flow of new entrants! A small number stick it out, the rest think f**k it and who could blame them. It will cost them more in training and overtime payments covering for a staff shortage in the long run..
Indeed, I'm not arsed about D2D money as long as the workload is abosrbed into duty time properly, Saturdays are a pain but so what, I could be working till midnight on a Saturday at Tesco or something. Its not all about money!!! Money doesnot = happiness.

The fact that we are bullied into working over our time and threatened by management is my biggest gripe - the CWU team seem to have ignored this and blindly dived into another "agreement" just like the last one. Ttwice they have had a chance, twice they have failed, if I vote yes the bullying stays, if I vote no we are still stuck with the previous agreement so the bullying stays!!!

On the first point, I can only do so much in one day so they can give me 12 deliveries if they like, I will work at a sensible pace and go home once my time is up. They know this so why would they bother to try ?Member 34 wrote:There are no caps on delivery spans.billypants wrote: as an undecided voter this is the kind of info I need, please explain to me exactly how this new agreement will make our working conditions even worse than they are now. On the second, they can scrutinise my work rate all they like, I know it's good, but I accept your concerns that there is no set standard, this is a problem.
As for getting everyone up to the standard of the top 10%, surely this is ageist as no 50 year old I know can keep up with a fit young teenager on delivery. Again a real concern.
Thankyou for a considered reply.

Not possible, at your get out time you would have the time left allocated for your delivery span only.Member 34 wrote: There are no caps on delivery spans.

Also, local union agreements during these changes would forbid this kind of thing.

Pegasus will determine this, hopefully with union agreement at local and national level.

my answer is no, i don't want to be deliverying 7 and 8 items of d2ds 3 is more than enough and after the 2007 agreement i just don't trust royal mail to stick to agreements
