Feel let down, and i'm still waiting to get any sort of correspondence on the agreement.
7 long years i have loyally backed the union as rep in 25 years service.
The whole lot should resign on mass.

Hello everyone.

Please note the following is just my own personal opinion. I have been a postie for a number of years and I am a member of the CWU. I am also no stranger to this site.

So.....

If this agreement gets in, i am one for cancelling my subs, no questions about it.

Why does the CWU not ask all their Reps if they think this is a 'Great Deal???'
Will any of them endorse it?

I cannot understand how we went from such a strong position just before Xmas:
Called the strikes off and left our future, hopes and asperations in the hands of CWU HQ.

How many of us thought 'wait a minute we have been here before!'.

My personal thoughts were surely they will try to put a stop to the: Bullying attitude of managers; Forced EA -which gave us totally unworkable workloads/inbalanced the walks even more/put more of us under more pressure and stress; Stop Dom's ignoring/breaking National Agreements and give us all back our Respect and Dignty!

The warning signs were all there before the Agreement was reached.
RM refused to reverse the EA,which they Forced upon us in the 1st place or sort out any of the problems they created; this was true in my DO anyway.

Everone has already said it,
there is nothing in this Agreement which I can honestly say will benefit walking posties now or in the near future.

The Deliveries will be a nightmare,
no delivery spans [RM will exploit this to the full]; more d2ds [increased workload]; 100% calls every day [will the walks be reduced to compensate this? I doubt it!]; later Saturdays [ season ticket sales will drop!]

Has anyone actually thought about the affects to our health?

Well reality is really biting back now. We've been out on strike with all the hassle and public slagging we got and loosing crucial pay just for this garbage? Pay cuts and more work?? F-in UNbelievable.

But instead of getting down about this stitch up we MUST think about how we are going to get ourselves out of this hole.
So what are the best options for us moving forward to steal a phrase.

A vote of no confidence in the CWU? - It would be a huge event but could it succeed? If it could then NOW is the most likely time while the members are totally outraged. If this is going to happen it needs to be planned NOW.

Vote NO and let them try again? - Is there going to be a massive reversal? If it took them 4 months to create this wishy-washy, commitment-free joke what can they possibly do with another 4 months? We could have a Tory government by then.

I guess we are in the s**t either way but the key point might just be that the current leadership and negotiating team are INCAPABLE of getting us a good deal. They clearly don't understand the job and didn't have the slightest idea of the impact of making d2d 20quid, pro-rata and uncapped!! They basically HAVEN'T GOT A CLUE. I therefore suggest that just going with a NO vote WON'T bring us the agreement we need. We need new blood at the top for that to happen. LET'S DO IT.

bet there is some posturing going on in hq who's going to be the first to say this deal is crap ...and our only objective was to look after the cushy well paid job the members have put us in but unfortunatly we don't deserve to be in positions of trust

Re: what to do next...there is only one alternative....have your vote and pull your subs....

Remember your employment rights are your employment rights and not being in this union does not affect them....

...I tell you now, many people in every office in the country have the knowledge and skills to help others if they run into local difficulties....it is not hard and all the stuff to thwart unfair treatment is on the internet or on sites like these....why badge yourself up as a CWU rep when you can be an employee representative? You get all the rights and protection a union rep has....

...don't give me the argument you wouldn't have got the deal you have got, without the union....one question to ask yourself....what deal?

You are going to work harder for much less money....

The CWU is a business supposedly providing a service, just like any other....

What happens to businesses that don't perform? They go bust...

What happens then?....another sets up and takes its place....succeeding if it learns all the lessons....

You are not going to change anything by trying to vote them out or try and replace them...take it from me the rules for election activity are designed to keep the status quo firmly in place.....

Have your vote and call time on an appalling service....

They only listen to money...it is the only card you have...withdraw it.....

Aye the topic post sums it up,but lets not say we are down and out -each and everyone of us can still stand united and make a difference,before they called off the strikes at christmas our office was out for the long haul,vote for this agreement and the union is a long time dead.

The new deal should have addressed the bully boy managers (no managers bonus should be linked to cutting office hours),fair and achievable workloads should have been central to any new agreement and not an afterthought (max delivery span must be set),a clear explanation should have been given to why the network wasnt redesigned to allow earlier deliveries-otherwise it just looks like cost cutting to save on pick ups etc ,the supplement should not be pro rata,DSA should be making £400 million profit instead of robbing us of £200 million.

Both RM and the union have been very clever to paint us into a corner with all the mis information they are feeding the media with.
Loads of people on my delivery have said to me "see you lads got a good deal!" untill you stop and explain it to them and then they say "but thats a pay cut it dont say that in the paper"

p.s. i hope the top brass are getting it ramed up them right now ! but i have my doubts

Well said mate. Excellent post.
I got out of the Union years ago, as I realised then just how pathetic they are and they let me down personally. The only time we see them in our office is when they want you out on strike and we have 1 of them who actually works with the managers to make life difficult for us.
