Is i actualy legal for an employer to pay two people different amounts for doing the same job, because wha this pro rata bit amounts to In real terms is a bigger pay rise for F/T's that P/T's, doing it on seniority is one thing but this is just taking the piss.

If this was a he's getting £20.60 because he's white, but the's only getting £15.60 becaue he's coloured there would be discrimination lawyers rubbing their hands with glee, no offence like but thats a fair comparison to me

What part of the document which says "delivery spans are equal, subject to local conditions" don't you understand, all walks are supposed to be around the 3.5 hr mark, so wheres the pro rata in that, in our office we have P/t's doing 600 delivery points and some F/t's doing 400 so whose doing the most :arrrghhh

I want to make it clear, I don't support the agreement. I do understand where they are coming from with this.

postman one, 30 hours gets paid for 30 hours work. 600 drops, 5 d2d prepped and delivered but the duty took him 30 hours!!
postman two, 40 hours gets paid for 40 hours work. 400 drops, 3 d2d prepped and delivered and the duty took 40 hours!!

the part timer did only 3/4 of the hours of the other and so gets only 3/4 of the total pot for D2D money. It doesnt matter that part time man did far more D2D than full time man because it was done in his time. Maybe this is because he has no sorting and much easier delivery and so makes up within paid time to do extra D2D. Its a change in mentality from the current system....

Except postman two would more than likely finish much earlier than postman one and D2D's have nothing to do with IPS

End of the day there shouldnt be a supplement at all it should work the same way as it does now only difference being in return for delivering more D2D's per week the price per leaflet should be raised.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

if you dont support the agreement why justify it with rational thought:-

all it is is a great big feck up the harris.
all it is is a 30% pay cut.
all it is is modernisation via gothic swaths of the cutting sword.
all it is is BONUSES for the bosses.
ALL IT IS IS THE END OF MY SUBS.

ive noticed that some posts suggest four months of negotiation, that has only been from the strike suspension, the union reps that were negotiating on our behalf have been talking about this deal since 2009, and these feckers are on 45 grand a year PLUS expenses.

good luck to you and me :- exec action on everything. GREAT DEAL WELL DONE NOEL YOU MUPPET

But this is a supplement FOR D2D's. The more d2d's you do, the more you have to prep, the more you have to sort, the more money you should get for them. In your exmple, postman two must be doing somethin IPS or something in his extra 10 hours. That has nothing to do with d2d's. Yours Postman 1 is in effect getting 0.5 pence per d2d he delivers, while postman two is getting 1.7p each. That is simply not fair.

You hit the nail on the head there mate! Thats one of the problems I have. In theory both postmen should do the same hours but how will they achieve this in practice, hence showing another poop hole in the agreement....

That argument is not sound because postman 2 will do more sorting and will have a longer del span probably, so should we say that postman 2 is more productive and delivers and sorts more letters than postman 1 so should get higher basic pay???

No, I'm sorry, but that's not right. If Postman 1 covers Postman 2 while he is on holiday, he will then receive less money for doing EXACTLY THE SAME work. The remuneration will not go up because he is doing the overtime. The only fair way to "pay extra" for d2d's is either basing them on the number delivered (as we currently do), or, slightly less fair, paying the SAME to everyone.

Effectlvely, I am going to receive a LARGER pay cut due to this agreement than a full timer.

The whole thing is un fair full stop. If you collate the sodding leaflets and take them out slog round and deliver the buggers then part time or full time you should get paid PER HOUSE end of !!!!!

If you dont work with the delivery of door 2 door,s then i still dont see why you should be paid :nervous
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Ok, let me put it this way.
One hour of your work is the same as one hour of anybodies work in royal mail. If you cover for anyone, it will be another part timer on 30 hours, not a full timer so I don't understand your point there.
The £20.60 is really built into our main pay but they haven't explicitly done that.
The hour of work you do could be driving, callers office, delivering parcels, doing D2D or sorting. It won't matter, you get paid the same regardless. The fact is that with building D2D into workload, they should have built D2D payment into basic pay, hence all this confusion.
I still think it can't work, the theory is sound but the practice is impossible....
