Hello everyone.

Please note the following is just my own personal opinion. I have been a postie for a number of years and I am a member of the CWU. I am also no stranger to this site.

So.....

CONGRATULATIONS ROYAL MAIL AND ESPECIALLY THE CWU....

for making us hard working, humble and genuine posties look like useless, lazy, money grabbing and ungrateful gits.

Every single aspect of the media has jumped onto this agreement and portrayed it as little short of amazing. Royal Mail and the CWU are both happy with the end product and think they are onto a real winner. I can totally understand Royal Mail thinking it is onto a winner as it clearly is. However, how the CWU's Billy Hayes and Dave Ward can sell this agreement as anything other than pathetic is beyond me. It really is.

I have read the agreement and if I'm honest I struggled with some of the paragraphs, the wording and the phrases. Why couldn't this agreement be in plain and simple easy to read English? So we the workers who are affected by it know EXACTLY what is happening with OUR future. It is just pages of words, numbers, figures and percentages which are masking something much more sinister. Does the CWU really think we are that stupid and can't see the agreement for what it really is?

The CWU website is currently proudly displaying we are getting 'an immediate payment of £20.60 per week'. What they are failing to proudly to display is that this includes the separate payment for D2D items and shift allowances (for those who get it). I think the average payment for D2D items is about £25 and add that to a shift allowance of £12 you have a grand total of £37 per week. So instead of having £37 per week in your pay your now going to have £20.60.

How can my Union and Union leaders who's wages I pay justify this in any shape or form?

How can the Union justify 4 months of talks to gain a pay cut and more work (if more than 3 D2D items are to be delivered)?

As for the lump sums? This is the money we are entitled to from the Colleague Share scheme dressed up as something else! We should be entitled to this money regardless if this deal goes through or falls flat (which I sincerely hope it does)!

I am now asking myself a few questions.

What benefits has MY Union got for me from this agreement?

What is my £3.01 I pay to the Union a week gaining me?

There is 3 very big winners from this agreement however. The first is of course Royal Mail. They have us gaining a pay cut and doing more work. Congrats Royal Mail. The second winner is of course Adam Crozier who will hopefully be leaving Royal Mail on a high with this ground breaking deal. The third and most disturbing winner is the top Union leaders. They are keeping Royal Mail sweet whilst lining their own pockets with the cash of the people they are supposedly fighting (I use the term fighting very loosely) for.

ENOUGH REALLY IS ENOUGH!

The Union let me down in 2007. They let me down last year when they called of the strikes for the infamous 'interim agreement'. However they have let me down right now more than I could of ever imagined. They really have. A question for you Billy Hayes. How would you feel if you had a family and house to keep and lost 18 days pay to strike for an end product which results in a pay cut and more work? It's a kick in the teeth it really is. Salt in the wound is an understatement.

We the workers really are alone. Dog eat dog. We don't have public, media or even or own Union's support. Royal Mail own us and the Union have proved they are now totally 100% inefficient, incompetent and irrelevant. They are out of touch with the working postie with the feet on the street. They have got us a deal which really could not of been any worse if Royal Mail had thought it up on their own without Union influence.

I ask myself again, what has my Union really achieved for me in this deal? I am down and out. Totally frustrated with no fight left. It really is quite hard to take it all in.

PS Can we have a mallet whacking cartoon thingy with the CWU logo, Billy Hayes' face and Dave Ward's face? Cause if we be honest they are no worse than Adam Crozier or Peter Mandelson. They are basiaclly doing their jobs for them.

PPS I have just sent a copy of the above to the CWU and asked for a personal reply from someone with authority within in the Union. Does anyone have an e-mail address for Billy Hayes or Dave Ward? Is it possible that some of you lot could 'copy and paste' the juicy bits from above and also send it to info@cwu.org ?

The tragedy is, that as true as this post is and how it portrays the sentiments of every delivery officer in the land, the sycophantic crowd of union hangers on will be lauding this bunch of no hopers telling them what a wonderful deal it is - but hey we're here to tell the emperor he's buck feckin naked and their day is done, one way or another.
