it doesn't say delivery spans will be negotiated locally.......there is no maximum delivery span!!POSTMAN wrote:Walks will not be unlimited, although i have not had the chance to read the agreement properly,i'm guessing your del span will go down to local agreements.

trouble is, they always seem to treat you as if you're taking the piss. it's the whole trust issue that came up in (i think) the panorama programme.

"office revisions should look to define a set of revision objectives in line with the Delivery Revision Process and then negotiate and agree a duty span/structure that best meets these objectives, taking into account local factors and safety issues in route design.
This approach represents a fundamental change to the way delivery duties are constructed. Viewing spans as an enabler makes it essential that local negotiations reflect this step change"

Royal Mail and CWU agree that the length of the delivery span can be an enabler........within the process of duty revisions negotiations, spans must be looked at in the context of an enabler......In essence, the span will no longer be an objective in itself

Re: is cutting off banned?
Removing the limit on delivery span is not necessarily a bad thing, deliveries can be made both smaller and longer by mutual agreement, you can have a range of different delivery spans and attendance patterns across the office, more indoor work means smaller delivery spans, less indoor work means longer delivery spans.

Re: is cutting off banned?
POSTMAN You used to have a 4 day week negotiated locally under phase 2 flexability yeah.....what happend to it when there was a buisness savings at your office ? .....did your unit Rep have any option in this ? .....did your DOM have any option in this, or was he doing what his boss told him/was it only your office?POSTMAN wrote:Walks will not be unlimited, although i have not had the chance to read the agreement properly,i'm guessing your del span will go down to local agreements.
Even if you's pick somthing nice from the menu of options, on this years a la carte menu don't expect to have that every year. The menu is not part of the agreement ! (it's mentioned in the agreement but it it's self is not in the agreement!) so that begs the question whats "the specials" on next years menu or the year after.....
If your Dom's boss tells him to make savings by increasing delivery spans will he say no ? will your Rep be able to do anything about it ? will they be breaking a National Agreement ?
Maybe RM will treat us better now! if so why is one of the ammendments concerning RM breaking the interim agreement!
NO Delivery Span! NO Agreement!
ps. how can i make that a footnote.

You could always agree locally longer delivery spans thats not what this agreement allows!! it stops you from refusing longer ones, maybe not right now but you will have longer spans as a dirsct result of this agreement whether your office wants them or not!!Spartacus wrote:Removing the limit on delivery span is not necessarily a bad thing, deliveries can be made both smaller and longer by mutual agreement, you can have a range of different delivery spans and attendance patterns across the office, more indoor work means smaller delivery spans, less indoor work means longer delivery spans.

Even if you find a decent manager who will allow this and remember it has to be by agreement.
Can you imagine the division in an office this would cause?
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Where does it say 2 mph???drb wrote:We now have a say in the pegasus software. This means call rate and walk speeds.Your call rate will now be maximum with a walk rate of 2 MPH. The Indoor workload tool also gets our input, their way was flawed.
If you learn it well enough,(and I mean putting the effort in),you could have more hours put BACK in.
as RM were previously counting 4 mph as 2.4 mph what is 2 mph really???
because i'm damed sure it's not 2 they will not have halfed it!
If they have figures then why aren't they in the agreement?

Re: is cutting off banned?
that sounds like a local agreement of 2mph. Its all so unscientific and against true logic, Id have more faith in the system if the rate was 2.5674 or something along those lines, the fact its a flat number suggests its just made up.belle smith wrote:Where does it say 2 mph???drb wrote:We now have a say in the pegasus software. This means call rate and walk speeds.Your call rate will now be maximum with a walk rate of 2 MPH. NO Delivery Span NO Agreement!!
Think you're only seeing the worst parts of the agreement and not seeing the opportunities it could bring.
Spoke to my sector manager this morning and he was ok with the idea of different delivery spans across the office. There are only so many hours in each office, how you fill them will be down to agreement.
If the agreement is passed we have to use it to our advantage. Make it work.
Glass half full.

it would be a huge stretch to believe there would be more hours put into an office, more likely about 15% at least less in each unit Id guess.

Re: is cutting off banned?
It is alright looking at all the duties as an enabler on deciding the delivery span, but as we are all aware the majority of town duties are all too big at present. Once the changes are brought in we will have no chance of completing any of the duties within the given time. If and when we cut of people have said that there are chances to have hours put back into offices (what a load of bollocks)
How do we expect Royal Mail to put hours back into all these offices when both Royal mail and the CWU have agreed to yet more job cuts - instead we will just come under yet more bully boy tactics and find ourselves being brought down the conduct line for not reaching the top 10% prep and delivery standards.
The agreement is a joke
