At the moment I get the Early Shift Allowance (£12.60 pw) and usually do 3 D2D per week( Roughly £20 pw).
Now the ESA is paid 52 weeks a year (£12.60 X 52 = £655.20) and the D2D on average 42 weeks per year (£20 X 42 = £840.00) therefore £655.20 + £840.00 = £1495.20.
This new supplement of £20.60 will be paid 52 weeks per year (£20.60 X 52 = £1071.20).
I will therefore be losing £8.15 per week!!!
Good deal eh?
2010 payrise will still leave you around £1.15 worse off
2011 payrise will counteract and put you back in the black with a increase in wages of around £4 on what you have now
2012 payrise will be a increase of pay of around £13 a week so in two years time your weekly gross wage will be about £17 more than now.
The 2010 aspect is the big problem as we are being asked to take a paycut for a year, before we see a rise.
Big daz you miss a vital point...inflation...this will probably amount to at least 10% over that period, so you will be well in the red "in real terms" even in 2012.
I also note everyone, unless I am mistaken, seems to forget we are also a year light....2009.....so you are down, say 4%, in real terms in the last 12 months...
I say well done to Mr Crozier...he said in 2007 we were 20% overpaid and 40% underworked ( or was it the other way round)....he leaves on a high with a workforce, by the year 2012, exactly where he wanted them to be....working 40% more and getting paid 20% less
His ludicrous pay is based on performance, i.e cutting costs, i.e getting more out of us mugs for much less....but he has got a result...he has therefore earned his reward
The CWU has the opposite objective....easier work for us all and more pay...
On that count this is a TOTAL FAILURE by the CWU....they have worsened real terms and conditions across the board.....and then they insult us by even daring to suggest this is some kind of "deal of the century" (a dingo phrase I think, now being quoted in the Daily Telegraph)
Some say we would be worse off without them. I say how?
If the CWU collapsed in RM another union would come sniffing because of all the cash from our subs....could another union do any worse than cut your pay by 20% in a four year period and make you work 40% harder??????
I don't think so...and to finish my waffling I would like to congratulate the PEC members who were part of the negotiating team....well done lads....I look forward to pointing you out to all and sundry when the ballot papers arrive!!!
