Royal Mail deal sees junk limits abandoned

Existing rules limit postal workers to three items of junk per household per week, but unions have agreed to abandon the cap as part of the inflation-busting pay agreement.
Residents can now expect to receive more unaddressed flyers, leaflets and letters as Royal Mail attempts to cash in on a lucrative revenue stream.

The Communications Workers Union had wanted to maintain the upper limit on the grounds that postmen's delivery bags were already too heavy, but appear to have accepted junk mail is central to the Royal Mail's financial future.
The company, which is owned by the Government, currently has around a quarter of the unaddressed letter market and now hopes to claw back ground lost to rivals.

Nigel Woods of Consumer Focus told The Guardian: "Customers concerned about being inundated can enter into an opt-out scheme but must be aware that this may also block mailings that they may want to receive."
A Royal Mail spokesman predicted there would not be a net increase in junk deliveries to households because it expected to take business from rivals rather than attracting completely new clients.

In 2006 a Welsh postman was suspended from his round for telling customers how to opt out of receiving junk mail by signing up to the Mailing Preference Service.

Publicity about his case provoked a widespread revolt across the country, with hundreds of thousands more people adding their names to the service.

Why did you not have the spiders legs transplanted onto your legs and the octopus transplanted onto your arms?
Anything else just doesn't make sense to me.
