Controversial thought but...

Post by theboropostie »

When we went out on strike we were all very keen to stress to the public and press that it was for conditions and job security and not financial gain - were we not?

I know that the D2D issue is going to hit some of us and it's also going to benefit some of us but surely the main thing is to have a secure job for the future?

My opinion on this agreement is that at least the revisions will be done fairly and with union input instead of what has happened over the past year and also that D2D will be included into workload which will also benefit when the call rates are considered.

I may be talking crap but I thought that is why I was on strike - keeping a roof over my families head for the long term and fair conditions to work in - any pay rise is a bonus?

Yes but none of us expected our union to negotiate a financial loss for many of us.

All very true, and we have been park and loop for 11 months, walks still uneven so we have people in measuring all our stairs so that we are all equal fair play to all, shouldn't matter if 2 months service or 22 years service :dance

Without a specified duty length what is to stop Bully boy managers from making you walk for 5 hours delivering your day targeted D2D on a duty that the planning team have planned. with an agreed workload tool that we haven't seen agreed by the idiots that think giving us all these extra D2D's 52 weeks a year is what we want.

Better conditions my ass.

I thought I saw a set delivery of 3 and a half hours in the agreement. Im not wholly against it as long as workloads are attainable in the time and until Ive tried them out for myself I cant say they wont be.

There is no set delivery span in the agreement, in fact it clearly states that set delivery spans are no longer an objective.

What about 4 hour delivery spans split in 2? You come back for a meal relief? 3 and a half for HCT and cycles.Compulsary meal reliefs are here now,as per the working directive/H&S etc....

sounds reasonable. i suppose we're all imagining we're going to be trailing round like we do now, dead walking back and forth to bag drops, etc, only for longer. it could be managed properly, and if it isn't they will have problems with compensation claims, no doubt about it. they must be aware of this.

More likely to be two, two and a half hour deliveries, as 4 hour deliveries are already in in lots of offices without a built in meal relief. This could work well with a 4 day week.

Show me where it says delivery spans will be no longer than 4hrs.

If people think that delivery spans will be less than 4.5 - 5hrs then they are as out of touch with the real world as the CWU negotiators :cuppa

Here is a controversial thought.
Who were the managers who made your lives a misery last year and almost brought this company to it's knees?
Who are the managers now?
Is there anything in this agreement other than wooly words and blue sky thinking that will stop these same managers doing the same thing again?
Is there anybody out there?
Helllllooooooo. :hmmmm
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

if they have any intelligence, as you would assume, with them being educated people and all that, they will have had a rethink on how far they can turn the screws before something or someone caves in.

my belief is that they were trying to crush the power that the workers had when i first came to the job. we had it all our own way.

I am afraid you only have to review the "interim agreement" progress to understand how much of a rethink these educated people have had. :wave

well, i know i have a tendency to be ridiculously idealistic and optimistic, and i probably don't have enough knowledge to argue a decent point, so i'll say no more. :chuckle
