£20.60 pay rise
I will play devils advocate here.
Currently we are paid a separate allowance for the preparation of D2D. Although in writing there should be time allocated for this prep, in reality there isn't. Most posties prep them in their own time at home or come in early to do it.
That work is proposed to be taken off us now and therefore the payment counts for nothing. That work will now be absorbed into workload such that it will replace other work which you do less of in the future. So therefore, for exactly our contracted hours we now get an extra £20.60 extra.
the current system is Normal working hours plus D2D prep work time = Normal pay plus D2D pay.
possible future system is Normal working hours = normal pay plus £20.60
I am not saying this is right though. It may be if the cap of 3 or 4 remained, but considering it will likely rise to 6, 7 or 8 I would have thought we may have got a slightly higher cut than £20.60.

Re: £20.60 pay rise
Hold on we already get £12.60 of it.
So it is, in effect, a £8 payrise.

Point taken, but it is still a pay rise then. Remember, not everyone gets the early shift allowance.

no - unless you do not do D2Ds - if you do then take off the average and it ends up as a minus figuremclovin wrote:Hold on we already get £12.60 of it.

Re: £20.60 pay rise
Prep of Door to Doors is done in WORK TIME or should be so your reality is giving a false impression of the job.
There is time allocated in writing if you search site you will find it.

Re: £20.60 pay rise
This should read pay CUT!
At the moment I get the Early Shift Allowance (£12.60 pw) and usually do 3 D2D per week( Roughly £20 pw).
Now the ESA is paid 52 weeks a year (£12.60 X 52 = £655.20) and the D2D on average 42 weeks per year (£20 X 42 = £840.00) therefore £655.20 + £840.00 = £1495.20.
This new supplement of £20.60 will be paid 52 weeks per year (£20.60 X 52 = £1071.20).
I will therefore be losing £8.15 per week!!!
Good deal eh?

any proof for this assertion as we have emails from Leighton or Crozier, an official RM document and amendments to the original D2D agreement that all say prep and delivery in work time not own time.

Re: £20.60 pay rise
You can not blame them for thinking the prep is done in own time, managers throughout the country hold us down, drip water onto our faces until we agree. Some of us are immune though, D2D PREP is done in WORK TIME. The delivery aspect though cannot attract overtime if you take out more than 20%.
It really is as simple as that.

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Re: £20.60 pay rise
Whats the bet the worm now turns and managers start saying D2Ds have always been done in RMs time so no extra prep time is needed?

Both part of the D2D agreement at http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... .php?id=29" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and finally the copied email from the chairmans office in this thread http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... &hilit=d2d" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Good afternoon
Thank you for your email.
It was agreed with the CWU in the 1995 addendum to the national agreement
(and the subsequent joint statement) that Door to Door mail is paid for
separately via unit payment, and is due to be absorbed within normal duty
time in existing deliveries. For this reason the workload associated with
the product is not taken into consideration when planning revisions.
This is the agreement that is currently in force, and it means that Door to
Door is left out of workload, but must be sorted and delivered along with
the other mail during existing duty time with no additional hours.
Delivery is compulsory under the agreement, and the only real difference
with other mail is that it is currently paid for separately.
kind regards
Robert Brushfield-Hodges

Good deal eh?
2010 payrise will still leave you around £1.15 worse off
2011 payrise will counteract and put you back in the black with a increase in wages of around £4 on what you have now
2012 payrise will be a increase of pay of around £13 a week so in two years time your weekly gross wage will be about £17 more than now.
The 2010 aspect is the big problem as we are being asked to take a paycut for a year, before we see a rise.
