"Although the reduction is on gross hours, in net terms it will mean delivery employees are working 35 hours 40 minutes per week and mail centre employees below 35 hours due to relaxation allowances."

Does this mean that we are no longer paid for our meal reliefs but still have to include them in the attendance pattern - and if so is our hourly rate increased proportionately ? Or .....is this where the rather small percentage increases are coming from - if so then we are not being given more money but rather being allowed to keep part of what we once had.
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

Well after reading that its quite clear that our wonderful leadership think they deserve a round of applause and are deadly serious about convincing us that this agreement is the only game in town-''WE CAN JUSTIFIABLY STATE THAT WE HAVE DELIVERED ALL THE COMMITMENTS MADE AT THE START OF THE NATIONAL DISPUTE''

I have to laugh at one of the great things they have achieved-''STRONGEST EVER WORDS ON INNOVATIVE DUTY PATTERNS'',jesus are these guys negotiating in an opium den or something??

hahaha an agreement of 75% Full time to 25% part time staff.... aye, right. it's 50:50 in our office and there are part timers in there that have waited years for a FT position - whever a FT-er goes, his duty reverts to PT. no chance we'll get FT jobs back into our office.

this "agreement" is worthless. it gives with one hand and then koshes you about the head with other, takes everything back and dips your pockets while it's at it.

Delivery

The Delivery section has achieved the following:-

• Long standing conference policy removal of private cars on delivery confirmed.

• Achievement of conference policy removal of weight off the shoulder.

• Achievement of conference policy Door to Door into workload plus retention of the remuneration.

• A revised revision process that involves the CWU from start to finish which was one of the fundamental issues of the national dispute.
Where in the agreement does it say that private cars will be removed from delivery? Even the CDV document leaves the door open on that one.

The CWU website has put up their spin on things:
http://cwu.org/news/archive/deal-brings ... rkers.html
The agreement is over 80 pages long and covers lots of industrial detail for different areas of Royal Mail."
It would have been at least half that long if they'd removed all the corporate doublespeak. I also love the way they've put certain parts of the writing in bold:
· Pay: increases to basic pay of over 6.9% over three years broken down as:
o 2% in April 2010
o 1.4% in April 2011
o 3.5% in April 2012
And it seems the union is optimistic about inflation or else they wouldn't be so keen to lock us in to those rates. 2% this year? Well current annual rates are at 3.5% http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=19 And even though I have a GCSE in maths, it doesn't take a mathematical genius to understand that it's no pay increase at all.
Vote NO!
