Re: NO AGREEMENT UNTIL PENSIONS IS RESOLVED!!
I don't care what the reasons are, but I'm glad that shyte deal has been shelved. I just hope the shennanigins lasts for the rest of the year.
In the meantime, we should all let our branches know that if anything like that is offered up to us again, there'll be Hell to pay.
No feckin' about with our Saturdays, no feckin' increase in delivery spans, and the cap on Door 2 Dustbins to remain unless there is significant reward for delivering more of that shyte.

I agree what's the point in getting pensions sorted when leaked deal is going to do us in anyway.belle smith wrote:Think this might be one of the ammendments mentioned by dingo.
even with the pensions i'm still voting no. Pension schemes in deficit have the same legal satus as company creditors.....it's not optional if they pay, they do or RM go bust!

Re: NO AGREEMENT UNTIL PENSIONS IS RESOLVED!!
Can't stay now as i've got the daughters swimming lesson but here is a brief (very) update.
The agreement was passed overwhelmingly by the PEC on Friday and CWU and RM planned joint comms today. This was scuppered by leaks onto here and facebook etc.
The deal was carried on the basis that the pensions must be resolved - previously the Government have said that they will negotiate on pensions once the modernisations talks were completed.
The two ammendments on Friday were 1. a small one on the trigger points for engineers payments and 2. That RM must full abide by the terms of the interim agreement before this agreement goes out to ballot.
Picked up a couple of issues in this thread - The worry that if Labour sort our pensions then the tories come in can be sorted by a legal long term deal now.
Also I think fishtank said that the companies financial position would be changed if the Gov took on pensions - this is covered in the agreement - giving the union the right to look for further benefits.
The LTB is coming out today (well I think so) - It is about 6 pages worth giving members a full update.
Will try to get back on later if I can.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: NO AGREEMENT UNTIL PENSIONS IS RESOLVED!!
This is from my Conservative MP who is a front bencher a shadow DBIS minister
Thank you for your update of 24 February, fingers still crossed for a deal.
As to your pension query, there is no fixed Party policy on this and we will need to consider the situation fully, if we win the Election. However we do realise that the future of Royal Mail and any form of investment will be dependant on sorting out the pension situation which will involve the state taking on some degree of the historic burden. This will actually be relevant whether or not the question of investment is dealt with as a plan to deal with the deficit will have to be put in place during the summer. To fail to provide a new plan of action (as Labour have done) would, ultimately require the pension scheme to close which I would see as unacceptable.

Re: NO AGREEMENT UNTIL PENSIONS IS RESOLVED!!
How can the deal be scuppered if the leaks started appearing on Saturday and both the CWU and RM comms agreed it today?
First of all it's a horrendous deal with or without a pension resolution and how the PEC could have agreed to it unanimously on Friday beggars belief. How out of touch with the front line delivery staff are these people? Everyone of them should hand in their resignations/stand down(whatever it is) from the PEC in disgrace. I'm disgusted this gooseberry and sell out was agreed UNANIMOUSLY by the PEC. If need be an all out strike should be called. It's time for the workforce to unite and stop bickering amongst one another. F/T and P/T (who are both getting shafted) should stand as one. Every single delivery office in the UK no matter how big or small and no matter how strong or weak the Union rep is. It's time for the stronger and more outspoken staff to come to the fore and take the pressure off the guys who are easily intimidated. Stand up for one and all.Take the fight to RM and our so called leadership. There's an election upcoming in 2 months. Stand up, fight for our jobs and rights. Put massive pressure on the CWU funded labour party and let the sh*t hit the fan.

No offence Lovejoy but how can we agree a deal to give the union "the right to look for future benefits".
That takes wishy washy to a new level.
Where should they look, down the back of the sofa.
If Royal Mails finances are improved by resolving the pension deficit we want proper real world benefits carved in stone....twice.

There's over 200 people in my office and if what I've heard so far is true then I will be pushing for a NO vote regardless of what my Branch or HQ want. You can coat this shite deal in as much sugar as you want, but at the end of the day its still shite and I'm not swallowing any of it.
