This is an EU directive, EU law superseds British law...to get rid of DSA means pulling out of the EU. Even if thats what you want we cannot and will not achieve that!

The union did attempt to address this issue but failed. The Hooper review was carried out because the Labour party had in their manifesto a commitment to review the impact of competion on Royal Mail. That was our one shot. We may still get a fairer price for it as a result of the Hooper review but i'm afraid thats it.

Ps. I'm sure dingo, Lovejoy and the Truth will tell you that as well.

Wrong, the EU directive calls for liberalisation of postal markets ie operators other than national carriers being allowed access to the market place. The disgusting scam that is postcomm and DSA is a creation entirely of our labour administrations choosing and design.

Thanks for the post Belle Smith ,do we know if the Union have tried to get a fairer price for DSA ,was this part of any discussions during the Agreement.A fairer price would mean more in the pot in the future for all I would think.

exactly right and by leaving the Union will make no difference at all . it is not enough to just be a silent member of the Union . the Labour Government decided that this country would be one of the first in Europe to open up its markets for this kind of Liberalisation and set an example to the rest of Europe. profit before people again and another disgraceful act of betrayal of the working class by our so-called labour party.however, we, the members of the Union and the labour party for that matter, have to set the agenda. we need the right people sitting at the top table to change our Union and more importantly the Labour party.
The struggle is in Labour, at the base of Labour and around Labour, to defeat New Labour.

The arguments to defeat New Labour are the cement to unite the Labour workers and intellectual Left with the Trade Unions.

The objective must be to turn Labour into the necessary instrument to make the ruling class pay for its own crisis .

i hope you dont mind Roy but this is written by you and it sums up the bigger picture for me ......." The driving force behind all these changes is something called neoliberalism. It is the guiding philosophy of the corporations. It basically says that nothing will exist on this planet – no human endeavour will take place, no plot of land will exist – that does not make a profit for them. Humans beings’ only purpose is to work for them. We are indebted to them through our mortgages, in the exact same way that serfs were indebted to the Lords in feudal times, and a portion of our labour will go to pay off our indebtedness in the same way that serfs were made to hand over a portion of their produce to the Lords.

In other words, what they have in mind for us isn’t “modernisation” at all. It is the exact opposite. It is a return to feudal serfdom." :Applause

I'm sorry, but you're wrong there. They CAN'T sell us out, unless we vote for it. :hmmmm

Personally. I think this has far more to do with the lateness of the leaks, which mean that it's too late really, for us to provide the neccessary feedback for the negotiators to get an agreement that we would accept. Than deliberately selling us out. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Stop agreeing to secrecy clauses, as they invariably lead to problems. Usually serious ones!

So what now? They come up with this bullshit agreement, 'leak it', then ask for it to be pulled. Then come monday say "We aint agreeing to the agreement that we agreed, until we have agreed the pension problem.

I want a bit of what they are smoking please.... It would be funny if I was not paying for this f***ing farce.

royal mail are squirming
they were just testing the water expecting to get at least a slightly favourable response.

unfortunatley they are so out of touch with reality of what being a postie is they have shot themselves in the foot.

scrap any plans for saturdays and make dtd's truly workable and fairer then we will start talking.
