Seeing as you now have five members El, you should now be thinking of becoming official.
#five-people
Five people might even start calling themselves a union, pay £150 to register at the Certification Office, get let-off insurance premium tax by their broker, and even set-up a union web site. The Twenty First Aircrew Union of mainly British Midlands pilots buys legal insurance in just this way, rather than bother with the usual pilots unions or trust their employer's benefits package.
And dont forget legal insurance to pay per member, needed if you want to challenge RM in tribunals etc, Probably get this at £10 each, once you reach over 1000 members.

Dont forget death in service for members, another £10 a year each away in an investment account, should suffice to mirror the CWU scheme.

Forget to mention auditors, payroll ckeck off, training for your stewards, and insurance for yourself in case you get sued for bad advice.

Oh yes one more thing, unless you get over 60,000 members then RM will not recognise you as the lead union to negotiate with.

I hope you are a wealthy man indeed El if you are willing to pick up all these costs.

Either that or your just another dreamer who doesnt think before you put your mouth into gear.

Count me OUT and I am a Part- timer who is a Union member.

I'll do the website,for a small fee,now do you want a forum as well?
Have to be careful though,if your members start to slag you off and you pull it,some numnut will jump on the bandwagon,start his own up,and all hell will break loose. :hmmmm

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I wouldn't blame a part-timer on a meagre 5 hour contract not wanting to get involved, but most of the 20-30 hour guys in our office are unionised.

Wouldn't it make more sense to join an existing one?

Wouldn't it make more sense for you to join an alternative, established Union. Rather than try to create your own?
There are other Unions out there. :hmmmm

Personally, I'm sticking with the CWU. They have their faults, but it has the majority of Posties as Members. So it has a big mandate. And quite frankly, they've done a great deal for me, and my Collegues over the years.

But if you're really serious. Why not at least look into the possibility of joining one of the other Unions who represent Communication Workers? :hmmmm

Or there is the IWW ( Industrial Workers of the World ) - it's a union for all industrial workers, irrespective of individual trade or other union membership

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial ... _the_World" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://iww.org.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

k979aaa, you forgot to mention they should get rid of the rule that says OT rates are NOT paid until 40hrs have been worked irrespective of contracted hrs
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

the trouble is el cartero you are the 1 on here that creates the divide between full time and part time, this deal is a poor deal for everyone even the full timers and believe it or not we are on the same side here, every full timer here has agreed that the pro rata payment is wrong for part timers, but you make it sound as though we have a good deal and part timers dont, we all have a bum deal here and the only way to get it thrown out is to get in the union and vote agaisnt it. Royal mail will stand by the pro rata payment and they will justify it by saying the £20.60 payment is nothing to do with door to doors its just an added allowance so we are all doing door to doors for free even though we know thats not the case.
