You better hope this deal dose not go through before April 26Th or :cfo will tuck you in your hammock as well!.sanyo wrote:later finish on a saturday is a great idea. we should work sundays aswell. hell why dont they put hammocks on our prep frames. Then they could reduce our wages and claim that we are doing live in jobs. Then they could ask a well known golfer or football player to look after our missus for us at weekends.

Re: POLL:Longer and Later Saturday Working
i can just about accept later saturdays if we can have the four day week with more saturdays off. probably come to terms with giving up the season ticket, tho. can't help feeling pretty helpless in all this, regardless of the right to vote.

WTF. Rational, logical thinking has no place in RM. What are you doing? You will have to leave if you carry on using so much common sense.binhumpin wrote:If the mail is down by 10-12%, why do we need to start later?
If the new machines are going to sort the mail quicker why do we need to work later?
If there are going to be large job losses if or when this agreement is ratified, why dont we go for a Mon-Fri? Job losses will arise from both options but i would rather work Mon-Fri. Sheduled attendances for Priority mail would cover the premier service. Collections could be done Sat & Sun then taken to the new machinery to be sorted for the monday. Equal amounts of Dow stream access mail could be fed into the deliveries daily giving staff a balanced workload daily. It is not rocket science chaps. Regards to all.

Re: POLL:Longer and Later Saturday Working
I don't get this Saturdays thing at all....
we've been working "late" Saturdays for as long as I can remember, certainly since the 2007 debacle...
Before then we used to leave all the Mailsort, but the last 2 years Saturdays have been just as heavy, if not heavier, than the rest of the week...
I don't like it, and if I thought we could go back to early Saturdays i'd jump at chance.

The problem is mailmonkey what you consider a late saturday now may be considered an early saturday in 6 months time.
You will be looking of into the distance saying "remember when we finished at 2.30 on a saturday.....them wur the days........
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Senior union officials, like their brothers in arms, Royal Mail senior executives, won't know what it is to have your entire weekend stuffed up, and so unnecessarily stuffed up, too.patio1 wrote:the union guys will get to go home early i bet.

VOTE NO, AND IF LATER SATURDAYS ARE IMPOSED, DEMAND A BALLOT AND WITHDRAW YOUR LABOUR ON THE VERY SATURDAYS THEY WANT TO WRECK FOR YOU. NOTHING LESS WILL TEACH ALL OF THEM THE LESSON THEY MUST LEARN.

Re: POLL:Longer and Later Saturday Working
No way do i want this. Our DOM tried to point out that this morning in WTLL that other business's work on sat like any other working day. He failed to mention that he has never worked a sat for months and if he has to come in he starts at 7am then go's home at half 9. T@@T
