That is unfair,Dingo has his day job to do,when he's done that he will give you his 'opinions on the agreement' when he does his night job.dvbuk55 wrote:As for dingo, well I can't really be bothered to search the forum for all those misplaced comments but:

Life changing agreement - well it's likely to be that, at the rate of loss of earnings we'll be living in cardboard boxes and shuffling the streets with cardboard socks and car tyre shoes - the people in the slums of Mumbai will look affluent compared to us.
BUT the real clincher for me is not this deal - no that's not important because "there are more pressing problems in London" which belies the previous statement by dingo that if London don't like it, it won't happen - well this isn't the life changing, money spinning deal of the century I was expecting so I hope London can take the time out of more pressing problems to focus on this vote.
You know, the agreement that he had nothing to do with.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Come on Truth give us your thoughts
You see there is a fundamental flaw in what you say lovejoy - unit reps are just postmen, Area and Div Reps are a breed apart no workee no worree - but there is a full time official paid by the union in each area who if they bothered to get off their backsides and visit the units and asked ordinary postmen and women what their views are they may actually be able to get a clearer picture of the field of nightmares - once a year perhaps? And that is the fault of HQ that these people are not monitored - our particular union official has been seen twice by me in twenty years - each time during strikes, Area and Div Reps down at unit level - never.lovejoy wrote:fishtank wrote:This is my major point in where we are....... HQ are to blame for many things and believe me I let them know when I get the chance via my reps but they can;t take place for your branch hiding the truth.POSTMAN wrote:We have all been stiched up over the interm agreement.I will decide my opinion next week and I will inform you. However my duty is to the members I represent first. Anyone in London will know we have more pressing problems to be dealt with first.
Our office is still at disagreement stage over last years EA.
Nothing has been resolved, nothing has changed only broken promise after broken promise.
Despite the fact that branch reported everything hunky-dory at the agm.
This is where we all reap what we sow........... These types of reps need to go and then maybe when the call goes out for action maybe more units will join in rather than going missing!
In order to get a true picture you need to engage the membership in union affairs and I mean actively engage them in union affairs - one way would be to make it mandatory to vote in each and every election. Highlight to every member the role and function of the union representatives at each level and their areas of responsibility and if they don't come up to scratch they will be told by members.
The union organisation needs to change, the structure needs to change and the personnel need to be changed. I wish I WAS twenty years younger because I would become involved and I would try to involve everyone in the workplaces to become aware of what they should expect from their representatives and what the representatives expect from them.

It isn't unfair - I use the words he used to describe this agreement - and I too have a day job and I thought he had given his opinion in a very descriptive way and as for having nothing to do with the agreement the word WE was used on most occasions when describing the deal of the century negotiations.POSTMAN wrote:That is unfair,Dingo has his day job to do,when he's done that he will give you his 'opinions on the agreement' when he does his night job.dvbuk55 wrote:As for dingo, well I can't really be bothered to search the forum for all those misplaced comments but:

Re: Come on Truth give us your thoughts
what are the cwu paid huge salaries to do? go on tv and tell us to strike?
and then say dont strike when we have them under the coshe? talk for 3 months...... then get a really bad deal?
i dont understand what they are for .
its more like they work for RM and we are pushed to our absaloute limits with every deal.
with strikes being a good way to push a new deal in the first place. can u remember everyone saying WTF are we striking for?
no one knew why but now we do - so they could push this agreement through. isnt it obvious
this time around RM getting everything they want. i mean come on they allways flippin have.
the CWU just seem to be royal mails puppets. a rather usefull tool .
RM are smart - alot smarter than the cwu

Re: Come on Truth give us your thoughts
El carto your views are very well put today, and very understandable. I was hoping youd think the union was a good thing but this deal if it is indeed accurate will just have made your feelings about part timers lot worse. The only people that will gain in my office will be firms duties or drivers . The rest of us will lose big time on d2d. I cannot believe theyve come up with something that harms part timers when thats really what they rely on in our office. Its no point lovejoy saying were not looking at the whole deal. If your going to lose £20 a week thatll definitely put a spanner in the works. Weve got 7to800 drops on our walks. A lump sum was never on my radar but losing that money weekly,. Do they really think theres enough people left to vote this through. Our phgs left the union after a crap deal (thats higher grade postman) i think more of us will be going after this

Yes,
The union should just concentrate on its members regardless of what their voting habits are.
So if I choose to spend a bit of my outside of work time being involved with the Green party Im somehow doing the members in my D.O a dis-service? How?
We all on this site have a variety of of interests we pursue outside of work, a ban on poltical party activties being one of them is un democratic.
