Now in terms of quoting me , well I have always stated that some offices and some walks will recieve their second batch earlier than others. The second 40% starts being sorted from around 0600 in the morning , so some offices will recieve theirs works earliers then others so the vast majority will be finish by 2 30 with most by 2.

So if for example 4 offices have their work done by the same sequencing machines then 3 of those offices should have their second batch of work by 0900 and as early as 7.30.

Remember each batch ( appox 12 walks ) have to go through 3 passes before being ready to despatch to the DO.
thats as clear as shite in a bottle. If my office received its second batch at 0900 that would be 1hour 40mins later than at present and at the moment we do 3hour30min deliveries and my fin time today was 1415-so in future i could have a fin time of 1555? nearly four o clock?

And its about time you came clean about why it appears H&S has been turned a blind eye to - no max delivery span etc and walk speed has rumoured to have been reduced by a measly 1.7%!? Did Dave Ward not see the Panorama prog? The walks in my office are timed at 4mph and some days you need a case of red bull and a rocket up your arse to have any danger of completing.

But you have already stated you may not get 40% of your work until 10.00am
And even if you are lucky and get it at 0900am that 40% will stil have to be unloaded and processed.
I would doubt if it will be entirely made up of sequenced mail but even if it is it has to be distributed to the walks.
Then it has to be prepped and then there is redirections,kill-offs packets specials, tracked items.
And then you have to pull out and tie down the entire thing.
Then you have to load up your van,not to mention take at least a 20min break before going out on delivery.
Add to that the proposed longer delivery spans of 4.15minimum and you have not a chance in hell of finishing at 2.30.
If there is one thing we do have more experience of than you it is the practicalities of a delivery office in the 21st century.
So please no more fable stories of most people still being able to finish before 2.
Many are struggling to do that now despite what Royal Mail may tell you.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

The truth! wrote:Annex B post exposes the myth and fears of some very well. The fact is not everyone will have to work to 3 in fact it will be the minority. The majority of postal workers will still finish before 2.

Of course it will depend on where your office is in the walk sequencing order and of course where your walk is in the batch system. The agreement expains that.

In addition another myth is that everyone is going to work till 3 on a saturday.

Can I point out the obvious yes there will be people at the end of the queue and they will be finishing late, and yes only a minority will AT THE MOMENT. RM and the CWU have already announced/highlighted that 50% of MCs will be closing.

Therefore it won't matter where you are on the pipeline immediately (unless you are at the end) but eventually with less MCs then the pipe line will extend and more and more offices will be working later and later. You might be working in the same building as an MC today but will you be in 5 years. :hmmmm

Please when thinking about this agreement look not just medium term but out to beyond the 5 years this deal/plan will last as all facts, good, bad and indifferent, should have a bearing on your choice of vote.

Me I will make my mind up when I read the document, but I will also remember that there are effects of both accepting the deal and refusing that will not be evident or mentioned in it. You have to extrapolate the effects an make a choice based on that as well.

Think that you will find that sequenced mail is dispatched to most distant DO's first, so MC attached or sequence machine kitted DO's will be last in the pipeline :cry

I prefer the CSS job to be honest. Delivery was getting frustrating, working with inept management and, dare i say, inept colleagues. By that, i mean, those coming in up to an hour early .... not standing up to bullying bosses, and making the job, harder and harder.
The CSS job is by no means perfect.....its nights after all, but i get more time off, and not having ridiculous targets imposed........yet :)

Royal Mail need to cut off collection to an hour earlier than normal to make things easier for mail to get the delivery office quicker. and only process local mail after the deadline to reduce travelling.

I actually prefer 5am start than 6am.
