full time jobs
what are the chances of royal mail ever offering full time jobs again (veryyyyyyy silly question i know) ive worked for them for nearly 4 years now part time and i have never seen a job advertised above 30hrs yet i thought part of the agreement was for a good mix of fulltime/parttime duties

Zero chance. PT is the long term strategy for three reasons - more flexible; cheap labour;less unionised

If it does come down to a brutal chioce at local level.
Can you see any offices honestly agreeing to longer spans to enable some part-time staff to get a full-time contract.
I may be wrong but i just don't see it happening.

I woudn't want longer spans thats for sure. but i think it may depend how many part timers you have in your office, if for exsample you had more than half your office as part timers and they wanted full time jobs, you may just find your self out voted.fishtank wrote: If it does come down to a brutal chioce at local level.

That might not be a problem in most offices just now but, in a couple of years time? with F/timers leaving and being replaced by P/timers...

well you've both fallen for that old con trick.
Somebody offers you a choice between two bad options,and you end up thinking those are your only options. It is one of the oldest selling techniques in the book,agenda setting .
Maybe you should really be asking why those on 30hr contracts are routinely working 40hr + weeks?
